The Painted Porch Description:

The Painted Porch is an inn for all seasons. We are conveniently situated within minutes of skiing, golf, tennis, horseback riding, biking, hiking, fishing, river rafting, shopping and dining.

All of which are easy to reach from our porches. Enjoy the relaxation and seclusion of a country retreat where the excitement of Jackson is just a short drive away. Moose and deer also enjoy our tranquil setting, as we know you will too. We look forward to sharing our slice of paradise with you.

While staying at The Painted Porch, we hope to make your visit to Jackson Hole a thoroughly enjoyable one. Our attention to detail and warm, wide-open hospitality make our guests feel welcome at our home.

Travel down our tree-lined lane, past the horse corral, where you will find a rambling red Victorian farmhouse. Two private entrance rooms and a cozy cottage are fully appointed with luxurious linens, fine furnishings and antiques. A full, delicious breakfast is served in our cheery, sun-drenched dining room. Peruse our wide selection of local and regional books, video library and board games, or just relax outside in the sun on the deck which provides chaise lounges, a table and chairs, jacuzzi and a hammock suspended in an aspen grove over a fanciful wildflower garden. In winter, you may retreat to our club room for a game of pool, chess, backgammon and other games. Or, simply recline in front of a warm fire and enjoy complimentary wine and cheese in front of or large moss rock fireplace.

Our House
Each room has been thoughtfully decorated in a different theme. Sumptious bed linens, towels, comforters and fabrics are used throughout. Antiques are mixed with lodgepole, twig, wicker, hickory and hand-painted pieces of furniture. Our guest rooms have stocked mini bars, cable television, VCR's and private, tiled bathrooms. No detail has been overlooked in the creation of our guest rooms - they are full of character, charm, whimsy and enveloping warmth.

A pastoral summer and a dramatic winter makes the scenery from our porches like that in a good novel. Wildflowers, gorgeous beds of perennials, annuals and dramatic hanging baskets make for memorable images of a summer retreat in this gorgeous valley. Mountains rising up from the valley floor to near 14,000 feet create the backdrop for a unique high altitude landscape. Hundreds of Aspen surround the property, along with a stately stand of Cottonwoods and a variety of Pines. Our 100 year old Wyoming Willow is a Moose delicacy (magnet), and sightings are regular if you're in the right place at the right time. We give "Moose Calls" when guests are on the premises, but you are just as likely to tell us that you saw one or two while we were gone.

The snow is nothing short of amazing. The light powder is like a winter flower bed, like the green after a rain, the pure white "blow it off your palm" snowflakes create a romantic winter get away memory. The sleeping Aspens give way to a view of the dramatic Teton range and if you're 20/20, you can see the skiers!

In addition to moose; resident deer, hawks, eagles, geese, chizzlers, magpies, robins, and chickadees live among our four horses, four dogs, three cats and of course, the humans.

Amenities:

The Cowboy Room
Buffalo Bill never had it so good! This room is evocative of a '50s Western. Cowcamp mixes with traditional Western decor to create a wonderful flavor. A king-sized bed, hand-crafted of skip-peeled lodgepole provides a good nights sleep. No cowboy tub in this bathroom - a Japanese soaking tub relaxes tired, trail-weary muscles and separate shower washes away the trail dust. A porch with swing provides a private entrance to complete this "Spirit of the West" first-floor room.

The Garden Suite
Garden Suite guests delight in the fanciful trompe l'oeil oil paintings that dance through the rooms. The bedroom has a king-sized bed, and the adjoining sitting room has a double-sized sleeper sofa. The spacious Italian-tiled bathroom has a Japanese soaking tub, as well as a separate shower. This suite also has its own porch with a private outdoor entrance and is located on the first floor.

This oversized two room suite is separated by a door, and can accommodate a second couple and up to three children or two children and a nanny. Both rooms have separate entrances, televisions and VCRs.

Curl up in the bay window seat in the sitting room and enjoy the views of the aspen grove and mountains that surround you.

The Cottage
This cozy turn of the century hideaway has a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bath all newly remodeled. Situated beyond the main house, The Cottage offers privacy and independence.

Choose breakfast in the main house at 8:30 a.m. with the other guests, or have your kitchen stocked daily with fresh juice, fruit, muffins, bagels, etc. and rise early or just sleep in.

Complete maid service is provided.

Sit on the porch and enjoy the pastoral setting and garden. In the early morning and evening our resident moose usually come to pull branches off of our 100-year-old Wyoming Willow tree, it's their favorite snack! Or, lounge in bed and look at the beauty of the Tetons. This quaint cottage is perfect for a couple looking to truly get away.

Amenities include private telephone, TV, VCR, and Stereo. Robes are provided and you may enjoy the Jacuzzi in our wildflower garden. You are invited to enjoy our Club Room in the main house, which offers pool, chess, books and an extensive video library. During winter and on the occasional cool summer night, our large moss rock fireplace provides a warm retreat for our guests.
