Uniquely situated near the gateways to both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, the Hatchet Resort combines western charm with full-service amenities to create the perfect base for exploring Jackson Hole and its wild surroundings.

A self-contained resort with a friendly atmosphere, the Hatchet features out-the-door access to outdoor adventures like hiking, fishing, wildlife watching, bicycling, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and hunting. It’s also perfect for simply relaxing surrounded by views of the magnificent Teton Range. The Hatchet’s facilities – log accommodations with phones and televisions, large grassy areas, a restaurant, pizzeria, and an old west bar, a huge hot tub, a general store with gas, and recreational guides and rental equipment – ensure that guests don’t have to leave the resort unless they want to. With the addition of a new conference and reception facility in 2002, the Hatchet also hosts business meetings, small conferences, church retreats, family reunions, weddings and other events.

The Hatchet Resort is the site of a historic cattle ranch. With its surrounding land now preserved by a conservation easement, the resort backs up to the 3.4-million-acre Bridger-Teton National Forest and it’s only a few miles from Grand Teton National Park. Yellowstone Park’s south entrance is located a short 33-mile drive away through Grand Teton Park. And world-class shopping is available 38 miles away in the Town of Jackson after driving along the Teton Range – one of the most scenic drives in the lower 48 states. Wildlife are everywhere along this drive.

All of the Hatchet’s rooms are housed in western-style log buildings with modern amenities, including phones and cable television. We welcome guests with small pets. The Hatchet offers four different types of lodging to suit a variety of tastes and budgets.
The mainstay of our lodging is the log building that houses the Hatchet Resort’s motel rooms. Built with lodgepole pine from nearby forests in 1954, the rooms are well-maintained and spacious, yet they exude rustic charm. Some rooms, including the luxury suites, are connected, which are perfect for family activities.
Constructed in 2002, the Hatchet’s four luxury suites are the most recent addition to our lodging options. Two of them offer indoor jacuzzi tubs and walk-in showers. Each room offers views of the Teton Range and vaulted ceilings.
The log A-frame Osprey House offers guests who need more space two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen, rented as one unit. Upstairs there are three hostel rooms with shared baths, offering value-conscious guests an excellent option. The upstairs and downstairs of the Osprey House can also be rented as a complete unit. All rooms at the Hatchet are non-smoking.
New this year is the "Hunter Cabin," a self-contained, rustic cabin that sleeps five. It includes a kitchenette, bathroom and living room and is tucked behind the resort on a creek.

Activities:

Easy access to a wide range of outdoor activities is one of the primary reasons people visit Jackson Hole. Make your access even easier by staying at the Hatchet Resort, where numerous winter and summer activities are available by simply walking out your door. Some of the most popular activities include hiking, bicycling, fishing and river rafting in the warmer months and snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and hunting in the fall and winter. The Hatchet Resort is located on the 700 mile Continental Divide Snowmobile Trail. Guests can also try activities that are a bit different – like horseback riding in the summer or a trip with a sled-dog team in the winter. Wildlife or scenic photography is also quite popular, and simply heading out to go wildlife-watching is a rewarding pursuit. The resort is set up to arrange numerous guided activities on the adjacent Bridger-Teton National Forest or in nearby Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. We work with a wide range of guide and outfitting services to provide our guests access to best activities that Yellowstone country has to offer. If you prefer to go unguided, the resort rents a variety of outdoor equipment.
