Goosewing Ranch, Jackson Hole Wyoming Description: Goosewing Ranch near Jackson Hole, Wyoming offers a family dude ranch experience along the Gros Ventre range, near Grand Teton National Park.Additional Information: The Goosewing Ranch combines the lifestyle of ranching in the wilderness with modern refinements. Please let us share with you the opportunity to experience this corner of North America's wildest country as it has been for over a hundred years.A working ranch reborn as an isolated retreat deep in the Gros Ventre River Valley, the Goosewing marks the entry point to a protected, pristine wilderness. At 7,000 feet, the valley is the host to some of North America's most spectacular game: elk, moose, mountain sheep, antelope, bear, eagles, geese, cranes, and much more, not to mention fantastic scenery. The Gros Ventre River, home to native cutthroat trout runs through the meadows of this historic ranch. Click here to take a Virtual Tour. The Goosewing has eight private guest cabins and a large, family style log home for large groups. With its large stone fireplace, the main lodge serves as a central gathering place for dining or relaxing. A loft bar with a pool table and television overlooks the main room. Fireplaces, wood-stoves, a hot tub and swimming pool add to the cozy atmosphere. A Large selection of beer, wine, and liquor compliments an eclectic, seasonal menu. The ranch accommodates approximately 30 guests per week. Laundry facilities are available for your use after 3:00 pm. Check in time is 4:00 pm. Check out time is 11:00 am. Day care services are available for infants by prior reservation. Activities Spring is the most volatile of the four seasons. Summer and Fall are fairly mellow, with cool nights, and warm sunny days. Typical stays include riding instruction, daily rides into the wilderness, wonderful fly fishing, hiking, or just relaxing. Some stays that previous guests have enjoyed have included naturalist guides, a geologic expert, guided fishing trips, overnight horse trips into the wilderness, photography classes and some dedicated bird watching. Day rides based at the Goosewing are available as well. Click here to see a video of Goosewing Ranch in the Summer. In winter, deep snow is our hallmark. Snow machines are the best for getting in and out of the ranch. Choose a guided snowmobile tour into the fabulous backcountry surrounding the ranch or Yellowstone National Park. Snowshoes, skis (both cross country touring and telemark) are preferred for exploring. The activities make winter an enjoyable time of year here. We also have daily snowmobile trips to a variety of locations. Advice and Common Sense The Goosewing is relatively isolated, even by Jackson Hole standards. The fewer trips we have to make into town, the more time that we can take showing you the unique character of the wilderness. If you have any unique requirements, vegetarian, kosher, other special diets or needs, let us know. Plan ahead to enjoy the solitude or the opportunity to get to know your family a little better. Your camera and bathing suit are musts. Layering is advised for comfort. In summer, bring jeans, jackets, hat, leather boots for riding or hiking, a sweater, rain jacket and your fishing gear. In winter, long underwear, ski jacket and pants, gloves and a hat are important. We can arrange to rent any special gear you don't bring with you. If you don't have the right gear, let us know how many and what size and we can have everything ready upon your arrival. Location The Goosewing is roughly an hour drive from Jackson or the Jackson Hole Airport. Ninety minute flights connect Jackson to Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah via most major airlines. Plan on the better part of the day traveling in and out. Amenities: Cowboy Cabin: The Goosewing has eight private guest cabins and a large, family style log home for large groups. This bedroom suite has a queen-sized bed and two bunk beds for the kids. Main Lodge: With its large stone fireplace, the main lodge serves as a central gathering place for dining or relaxing. A loft bar with a pool table and television overlooks the main room. Trapper Cabin: Take a tour of this room's western comforts. The king-sized bed will bring you to a welcomed sleep after a long day of horseback riding or snowmobiling. |
