Wildflowers Bed and Breakfast Description: Wildflowers is that absorbing combination of new and old that gladdens the heart without taxing the rest of you. The hand-carved staircase, original chandeliers, beveled and stained glass windows, period furnishings and oriental rugs add a note of elegance.
Additional Information: About The Hosts... You will be warmly welcomed by the owners and hosts, Cill Sparks and Jeri Parker. They spent many years planning Wildflowers while pursuing other careers, Cill as a nurse administrator at the University Medical Center, Jeri as an artist, writer and educator.
About The Breakfasts...
Jeri and Cill don't stint on breakfast. This is their favorite part of the day, and they plan to spoil you as well as themselves. They've written their own cookbook, which is in its second edition. Gourmet is the word here, and inventiveness. Breakfasts include the house special--cornmeal pancakes topped with black beans, salsa verde and sour cream. Strata, raised waffles with fresh strawberries, a heavenly baked spinach and egg dish, and blueberry-stuffed French toast are other favorites.
About The Gardens...
Cill and Jeri were lucky to have one of the designers of the gardens at Temple Square assist in the design of their wildflower gardens. Their view is that, taken loosely, any flower was once wild. The gardens feature larkspur, columbine, foxglove, wild geraniums, lupine, meadow rue, cosmos, coreopsis, and many others. In spring, over six hundred tulips are in bloom. The gardens are surrounded by blue spruce and quaking aspen.
About The Area...
Wildflowers sits amid homes of Old Salt Lake, ten of which are also on the National Register of historic Places. The well-kept neighborhood cherishes its ties to the past and maintains the character of the early homes and their ample yards. It is less than ten minutes to downtown, less than a minute's walk to a bus stop, and no more than a thirty-minute drive to the mountains and their renowned ski areas. Two of the 2002 Winter Olympic venues are along this thirty-minute drive.
