Horseback Riding on Red Rock Canyon Trails
Truly spectacular land immediately surrounding the Ranch affords horseback riders with canyons, desert washes and trails meandering below red rock spires. Guided trail rides on our horses allow everyone to experience the beauty of Moab. We invite horse owners to bring their own horses and board them in our barn (please contact us for details on that). Our guided trail rides include a 90-minute group ride that leaves from the Ranch in Moab Utah as well as private rides available upon request and subject to availability.
Moab, the Mountain Biking Mecca
Moab Utah is one of the greatest places on the planet to go mountain biking. Rent a mountain bike from any of the reputable shops in the area for half-day or all-day excursions from the resort. We have trail information and maps available from the Moab Utah Area Travel Council.

Rent our single or tandem inflatable kayaks for a jaunt down the Colorado River. We will shuttle you and your equipment seven miles up river to the put-in point to start your journey down the Colorado. Sorrel River Resort sits along a peaceful stretch upriver from Moab Utah. You and your guests will enjoy a relaxing few hours making their way back to the Resort. Your voyage ends back at the Ranch below the pool area and the River Grill restaurant. Staff will take care of bringing your kayak back up the bank for you. (Not available from April thru June -- please contact one of our recommended river guides during these times.)

Moab, Utah is a rugged region known for its sheer red rock cliffs, towering spires and famous natural arches. Visitors to Moab Utah enjoy National and State Parks, hiking, biking, kayaking and rafting, stargazing through crystal clear night skies, horseback rides and sunsets. Arches National Park preserves over two thousand natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch, site of the Moab Utah 2002 Olympics torch relay hand-off, in addition to a variety of unique geological resources and formations. The extraordinary natural features of the park include balanced rocks, fins, pinnacles and numerous arches, that are highlighted by a striking environment of contrasting colors, landforms and textures.
Canyonlands National Park preserves a colorful landscape of sedimentary sandstones eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. Located in southeast Utah near Moab, the park sits in the heart of a vast basin bordered by sheer cliffs of Wingate Sandstone.
The Colorado and Green rivers divide the park into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the rivers themselves. While the districts share a primitive desert atmosphere, each retains its own character and offers different opportunities for exploration and the study of natural and cultural history of both Moab Utah and the Southwest.
Travel to Utah's Canyonlands National Park can include camping along the trails, roads and rivers found here. The four districts are not directly linked by any roads, so travel between them requires two to six hours by car. Guests at Sorrel River Ranch Resort often enjoy a day-trip to Canyonlands and explore the Island in the Sky district.
