Golf:
The Coeur d'Alene Resort Course was designed to offer a pure golf
experience, free from outside interruption. Designer Scott Miller's vision was to create a course that offered a stimulating round of golf, surrounded by a park-like environment. The result is fairways that play from tee to green on bentgrass, beds of geraniums, acres of wildflowers and the water challenges of Lake Coeur d'Alene and Fernan Creek.
The 6,757 yard, par 71 course is designed around four distinct geographic features: an expansive lakeshore, a forested ridge, gently rolling woodlands and Fernan Creek, a revitalized trout stream. With four tees on each hole, The Coeur d'Alene Resort Course is challenging, yet forgiving, playable by golfers of all ages and skill levels.
By far the most unique feature of the Gold Medal course is the world-famous Floating Green. Located 100 to 175 yards from shore, the Floating Green measures 15,000 square feet in size and is anchored to the lake bottom by a series of cables which permit operators to vary the playable length. After their tee shot, golfers board a small boat to reach the green.
Awarded Golf Digest's Five Star and Golf Magazine's Gold Medal titles, the Coeur d'Alene Resort Course is America's Greatest Golf Experience. Chip Beck, winner of the 1992 Merrill Lynch PGA Tour Shoot Out Championship played at Coeur d'Alene, called the Idaho course one of the best he has seen, lauding it as a good family course, while still offering a great test of golf for the pros.
