Cleftstone Chalet Description:
Cleftstone Chalet offers more than a place to stay while skiing. The vacation unit was designed to create a warm, elegant, and peaceful retreat. Flowers, good books, CD/Video library, fresh coffee beans, down comforters, cozy robes and attention to every detail make Cleftstone Chalet one of Steamboat's most popular return rental homes.

Additional Information:

Dining Room:
Enjoy your meals at a beautiful antique round table set in a glass bay window. Watch the sun rise over Mt. Werner and the National Forrest to the East and set behind the evergreen-covered mountains to the West. Table seats 6 comfortably.

Living Room:
The living area is open and cozy with kitchen, dining and living areas together. The living room features a Vermont Castings green enamel, glass-front wood stove (gas) with wonderful flame and warmth. Two couches, a comfortable chair and a small rocker surround an antique Japanese table. TV, VCR, CD/Cassette stereo, bookshelves and a game cabinet complete the room.

Kitchen:
Full kitchen has oak cabinets, forest green counter tops, and a hard wood floor. Appliances include range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, and garbage disposal. All are clean and in excellent condition. Cupboards are stocked with spices and staples such as flour, sugar, vegetable oil, ketchup, mustard, coffee beans, teas and hot chocolate. Shelves are full of cookbooks. Napkins, paper towels, foil, garbage bags, etc. are provided.

Entryway:
Glass-pane front door opens into a slate tile entry way with a bench and large coat closet. Locked ski rack is available outside the front door on your private deck.

Bathrooms:
2 full bathrooms provide plenty of room for everyone. Both have tubs with showers, vanities with brass fixtures, plenty of shelf or cabinet space and beautiful wall papers. Thick white towels hang on brass towel racks and thick terrycloth robes for each guest hang in bedroom closets.

Master bedroom:
Winter and Summer the cool crisp mountain air lends itself to the cozy down comforter and excellent quality linens. An exquisite framed silk Chinese tapestry hangs by the bed which has an intricately carved red laquer headboard. Brass halogen reading lights are on each side of the bed. A full-sized futon couch covered in a deep plaid provides extra sleeping space for additional guests. Bath has separate vanity/dressing area. Glass door opens onto a private patio.

Twin bedroom:
The second bedroom has twin beds which may be arranged together or apart by request. An antique dresser and rattan "king chair" complete this room. Beds have down comforters with handsome navy covers. A rustic antique linen Japanese wall hanging fills one wall of this peaceful room.

Laundry room:
A full-sized stacked washer/dryer and large utility sink are available in a large laundry closet in the hallway. Laundry soap and fabric softener are provided.

Hot Tub:
The vacation unit has a private front deck with a beautiful 6-person hot tub. A small lawn is in front of the deck. The chalet sits up on a hill, so the road is not visible from the deck. Rather, you look across at an evergreen covered hillside and to the West, you look up at National Forest mountains and upper ski area slopes.

Setting:
Burgess Creek road is one of the best kept secrets on the Ski mountain. The peaceful wide canyon is covered in evergreens which slope up into National Forrest mountains. The road winds 1.5 miles from the base area up the mountain to Cleftstone Chalet and on up another half mile to the Thunderhead Express ski lift. The setting feels as if you are miles away from everything, while in reality you are minutes from restaurants, shops and the Gondola.

2 bedrooms/2 baths (spacious 1200 sq. ft.)
Additional 3 bedrooms/2 baths available at select times of year

Private Hot Tub on deck
Panoramic views of slopes and National Forrest.

Activities:
SUMMER ACTIVITIES In the summer Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley offers an amazing variety of activities for everyone. If you are an outdoor enthusiast or someone interested in just relaxing in a mountain setting, you will love all that Steamboat has to offer! The Yampa Valley offers miles of wonderful trails to enjoy horseback riding, biking, and walking. The rushing rivers thrill those that challenge the waters by kayak, raft, or inner-tube. We'll arrange for a local guide to show you the finest fly-fishing spots in the county! Perhaps you would prefer a walk or roller blade along the paved 4-mile Yampa River Trail, or hike up to the 283 ft. thundering Fish Creek Waterfall. The mountain lakes provide a relaxing way to pass the day through sailing, boating and many other watersports. The rolling hills and valleys contain three renowned golf courses for the novice to the expert to enjoy the thrill of playing at a high altitude where golf balls travel further through the thin mountain air. The mountains surrounding the Yampa Valley offer majestic landscapes to be experienced while hiking, mountain biking, or even on a guided camping excursion. We are close to the edge of the Routt National Forest if you want to escape for a quiet walk through the trees. If you decide to explore further, you can arrange for a Personal Guide/Outfitter to trek with you into the wilderness. The Yampa Valley is alive nearly every weekend during the summer with theatre, festivals and rodeos to entertain everyone. The ski mountain gondola operates during the summer to take visitors to the top of the mountain for impressive views of the valley and wilderness areas. The Town of Steamboat Springs and the Mountain Village offer some world-class shopping and cuisine. Enjoy browsing through the unique shops and boutiques with a western atmosphere. Then head off to the natural hot springs for a therapeutic soak and invigorating plunge into one of three natural pools! Thrill seekers can challenge themselves to climbing adventures year-round on ice, rock and indoor climbing walls. At the mountain base is a public tennis arena where locals and visitors meet for a lesson or game. And no visit could be complete anytime of the year without a bird's eye view of the sprawling Yampa Valley and the Continental Divide from aloft in a hot air balloon. WINTER ACTIVITIES Steamboat Springs offers an amazing array of activities for everyone. If you are an outdoor enthusiast or someone interested in just relaxing in a mountain setting, we hope to show you all that Steamboat has to offer! For a schedule of Steamboat's Events and Festivals, check out the Calendar of winter events. We will be delighted to coordinate activities for your vacation. In the Winter... The Yampa Valley becomes a Winter Wonderland as the snow begins to fall in Steamboat. The valley's golf courses now offer over 12 miles of groomed cross-country skiing trails. The lakes and ice rinks offer ice skaters a place to twirl and spectators a chance to watch a fast paced game of ice hockey. The mountainous back country calls to the adventure instinct to explore by dogsled, snowshoe, cross-country skis, horse-drawn sleigh, or snowmobiles. "Powder hounds" will enjoy a day with Steamboat Powder Cats skiing virgin powder all day at Buffalo Pass. Enjoy the sweet silence found in the Aspen forests while horseback riding. The rivers still offer the chance to try fly-fishing; or head to the lakes to experience ice fishing. Of course, Steamboat Ski Area offers World-Class skiing activities from ski school to fresh powder skiing in the trees. The ski area offers "snow-tubing" under the lights at night on the hills around the ski base area. For those visitors that choose not to rent skis, you can enjoy the mountain by riding up (and back down!) in the gondola to visit a cozy lodge at mid-mountain. Night skiing is available at Howelson Hill or enjoy the thrill of watching a skier leap from one of the US Ski Team practice jumps. All year round... The Town of Steamboat Springs and the Mountain Village pulses with life throughout the year with world-class shopping and cuisine. Enjoy browsing through the unique shops and boutiques with a western atmosphere. If relaxation is what you have on your mind, then we can arrange an in-house massage by a professional from town.
