Why not engage in a true South Fork mountain experience by staying in one of our cabinettes or log cabins? Our staff is customer service oriented and Foothills offers all the comforts of home. You'll understand why our guests have returned here for over 30 years . . . Ask our staff to help you plan activities during your stay. You'll enjoy our location. We're just off Highway 149 and Highway 160 in the heart of South Fork behind the South Fork Visitor's Information Center tucked away in a quiet, off highway, cozy spot. We are convenient to all local amenities and actually close enough you can walk to the local grocery store, several restaurants, ski rental shop, and unique little shops.Our log cabins, cabinettes and lodge rooms are well maintained and RECENTLY RENOVATED - FIREPLACES AVAILABLE! We offer a wide variety of lodging choices at very competitive prices. Choose from a lodge room with mountain decor, a one or two bedroom cabinette (private cabin type accommodation), and one or two bedroom log cabins (stand alone log cabins). 2 Bedroom Cabinettes - Cabinettes are completely private with private entrance, fully equipped kitchen, living/dining area, full bathroom, cable television, VCR, and telephone. Cabinettes are similar to cabins, except there are 5 cabinette accommodations located in a single structure. 1 Bedroom Cabinettes - Our 1 bedroom cabinettes offer fully euipped kitchen, living/dining area, full bathroom, cable television, VCR, and telephone. Rate ranges from $60-85 per night. Rate varies according to season and number of guests. LODGE ROOM - A standard lodge room offers a king bed, private bath, cable television , VCR, in room coffee, and telephone. There is no kitchen in a standard lodge unit. LOG CABINS - 2 BEDROOMS - Our 2 bedroom log cabins are recently renovated and well appointed. The cabins offer a living room with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen with eating area, full bathroom, cable television, VCR, and telephone. LOG CABINS - 1 BEDROOM - Our 1 bedroom log cabin is our smallest cabin with 1 bedroom, a seating area, private bath, kitchen/eating area, cable television, VCR, and telephone. Amenities: Telephone, Data Port, Voice Mail, Cable TV, & VCR - All our cabins, cabinettes, and lodge rooms have color cable television, VCR, and telephones (most with a data port and voice mail capability). Our lodge maintains a library of VCR movies which may be checked out free by our guests. Kitchens - All cabinettes and stand alone log cabins have a fully equipped kitchen except Lodge 3, which is a standard lodge room without a kitchen. Fireplaces - If you would like accommodations with a fireplace, Cabins A,B,C,D, and E have a fireplace in the living room. Rec Room - Our Recreation Room is open to our guests as a larger indoor area to relax. The Rec Room is equipped with tables and chairs convenient for family board games, group events, meetings, or for large groups of guests to gather for meals. The Rec Room may be reserved for private use with advance reservations. Please call us for more information on our Recreation Room. Picnic Tables & Barbeque Grills - Enjoy one of our six picnic areas provided for our guests to enjoy the great outdoors! Our guests have the option to use one of our outdoor picnic areas. We offer 9 gas grills and 3 charcoal grills available for use in one of our picnic areas, or right at your front door. We know everyone has their own preference, so we offer charcoal grills AND gas grills for your convenience. Hot Tub/Spa - Our redwood gazebo offers a hot tub to welcome guests after a long day of outdoor activities. The hot tub is centrally located for the convenience of all our guests. Large hot tub towels are available for our guests at our lodge office. We provide these for your comfort. Simply ask for towels prior to entering the hot tub area. Designated Pet Friendly Accommodations - We offer two pet friendly cabins. Although we love pets, we understand some of our guests have allergies. Out of concern for the safety of our guests, pets are permitted in Cabins E and F only. All pets must be approved by innkeepers at the time of making reservations. Activities: South Fork, Colorado is a largely undiscovered three season outdoor sports destination location. Nearby sports include Gold Medal fishing, hunting, ATV'ing, four wheeling, rafting, float trips, PGA golf, hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, swimming, hot springs, Wolf Creek Ski Area skiing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, backcountry snowcat skiing, backcountry snowcat sightseeing tours, and so much more!
Fishing - Too many places for great river, stream, lake, and Gold Medal fishing to get them all in here! Fish the Rio Grande or the South Fork of the Rio Grande River and many streams and tributaries. Area lakes & reservoirs include Alberta Park Reservoir, Archuleta Lake, Beaver Creek Reservoir, Big Meadows, Crater Lake, Crystal Lake, Hunters Lake, Pass Lake, Shaw Lake, Million Reservoir, Tucker Ponds, & more! There are rivers, lakes, reservoirs, streams, tributaries. If you prefer a guided fishing trip, we can refer you to an experienced fishing guide. Rafting - Mountain Man Tours offers two different river trips. One is a whitewater trip on the lower run of the Rio Grande located between Creede and South Fork with Class II and Class II rapids. This run goes through the Wagon Wheel Gap Canyon. The other river trip begins above Creede and is Class II and Class II 1/2 rapids. This trip is great for families.

River Fishing Guide - Mountain Man Tours offers a guided fishing trip. Fishermen of all types and skill levels welcome! Fish quality waters for Rainbow, Native, and Brown Trout. Twilight River Float - Take in a spectacular sunset as your guide skillfully navigates your raft down the Rio Grande. Bring a bottle of your favorite wine, cheese, and crackers while enjoying a leisurely float at sunset. Twilight floats are approximately two hours long, starting at 6:30 PM and cover four miles of river. Transportation to and from the river is provided as well as a Type I/V personal flotation device (life preserver). Sand Dunes ("Hooper") Natural Artesian Hot Water Pool - Natural hot artesian water pool with views of the Great Sand Dunes and Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The pool water is maintained between 98-102 degrees depending upon the season. Features a concession stand, pool toys for rent or purchase, greenhouse produce, Open from March 1 through November 30. Open every day from 10 AM to 10 PM except Thursday. December through February hours are 1 PM to 8 PM. Closed on New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Closed in April for maintenance from the 1st Thursday in April for 10 days. A "must see" offering a complete day or afternoon of entertainment for the entire family. Family Float Trips/Scenic Photography Float Trips - Take a guided raft trip on the Rio Grande. This is a great way for the entire family to be introduced to river rafting. Afternoon trips are approximately two hours long, starting at 12:00 PM, and cover four to six miles of river. All trips are fully guided and designed for all ages, no experience or physical requirements needed. Hiking & 14'ers - This area offers trails that will appeal to all levels of hikers, from easy to difficult. Trails range from approximately 1.5 miles to 5 miles. There are longer trails that lead into other trails for those hikers wishing a more challenging adventure. Contact us and we will assist you with information to help you plan your hikes. Colorado Gators - A family oriented, recreational farm that uses natural resources with an integrated ecosystem with the goal of preserving a variety of species. Colorado Gators is open from January 1 through May 23 from 9-5 daily, May 24 through September from 9-7 daily, and September 9 through December from 9-5 daily. Closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Creede Repertory Theatre - Just up the mountain from us is the Creede Repertory Theatre. The theatre is a nationally acclaimed repertory theatre offering 4 productions running from mid-June to Labor Day. Productions are rotating and visitors can see more than one production if they spend several days in our area. Types of productions include dramas, comedies, musicals, and contemporary. Silver Thread Scenic Highway - The Silver Thread Scenic Highway highlights include old mining camps, history, and spectacular scenery. Backcountry Snowcat Skiing or Sightseeing Tours - Experience the magic of winter in your own private, heated snowcat. A single snowcat seats up to 12 people, snowcats available for groups of up to 22 people. Complete with driver/guide, hot lunch and beverage, tours of 4 to 5 hours. Special moonlight dinner tours available by reservation only (reserve soon as moonlight tours book quickly!). Ski & Other Sports Equipment Rentals - Please ask us for information on where to rent or buy ski , biking, snowshoeing, and other sports equipment. There is also a guest information package in each room that gives information on where to rent equipment. We recommend advance reservations for ski equipment rental.
Sleigh Rides - Day and Evening Rides available 9 miles from our lodge. Ride includes a hot beverage and baked goods. Price for a 1/2 hour ride is $16 adult, $10 children, children under 4 are free. For an hour ride the cost is $25 adult, $15 children, 4 and under are free. Reservations are preferred. Please call Foothills Lodge and Cabins for reservations.
Hunting - Hunting in the South Fork area can be an incredible experience. There are 113 types of wildlife that have been identified as sport game. Small game includes fox, coyotes, rabbits, squirrel, and more. Big game includes moose, big horn sheep, elk, deer, mountain goats, and more. Dates for each type of hunting are set by the Colorado Division of Wildlife.
