Fishing
Lake Pueblo State Park has been referred to as Pueblo's playground and is considered Colorado's number one state park. A mild climate and low elevation contribute to the year-round popularity of Lake Pueblo and the entire area, making it a paradise for fishing in every season. It's worth noting that Pueblo boasts almost 300 days of sunshine each year, along with an almost ideal average temperature of 68 degrees. The lake is only 12 minutes from the Abriendo Inn Bed and Breakfast and is known for warm water fish, small and large mouth bass and walleye, that can be caught.
A little over an hour from Pueblo is a "Gold Medal" stream, the Arkansas River for terrific trout fishing. For those wishing a guided day long trip, arrangements can be made to go to High Lakes on the back side of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains for $200.00 per group (must furnish a four-wheel-drive vehicle). Fly fishing dreams are made here. Cut throat is the High Lakes fish. Everyone in the party needs to be in good shape as hiking is required. Day packs are required and everyone will have to pack in whatever food, snacks or beverages they desire. |
