Additional Information: There are 37 different units with a total of 150 guest capacity. This does not include hide-a-ways, roll-a-ways, or cribs. Nineteen of the units have kitchens, all units are equipped with refrigerators and coffee makers. All linens and towels are furnished and kitchens are fully equipped awaiting your arrival. All units are reserved on a first-come first-serve basis. No matter what plan you have opted for, all of our accommodations are available to you. All of our guests are welcome to eat in our dining room. Our units are reserved according to the size of your party and guest desires. There are 22 different floor plans accommodating from one to nine guests. Amie McKown will be enjoying her 11th season at Harmel's as head housekeeper. Amie demands the highest housekeeping standards in the industry. You can expect clean accommodations, fluffy towels, good beds, and well-stocked coffee and accountrements. Harmel's Ranch Resort has been operating as a family dude ranch since 1958. We are slow to change our definition of Western Hospitality. The world has run off and left us in a class by ourselves. We stick by what we were taught by our parents and grandparents; the guest comes first and we delight in saying "Yes" to you. Amenities: Entering through Harmel's front gate, one is impressed with the expanse of lawn and the main facility. These encompass the front desk, office, recreation lounge, gift shop, tackle shop, and mini-store.Adjoining buildings house the kitchen, the Riverside Dining Room, bar and cocktail lounge, the firepit deck overlooking the Taylor River, and a 20-30 person meeting room (The Anvil Room). To service our guests other buildings for housekeeping, guest laundry, maintenance shop, and helps quarters complete the main complex of buildings. Across from the main gate you will find our expansive stables and tack house. Here our wranglers greet and assist you in preparing for your horse adventure. The Junior Wrangler program for the youngsters also takes place at the stables. Further back in the pasture is located a well stocked kids pond and picnic area. Harmel's is one of the largest dude ranches in Colorado. Able to accommodate up to 150 people comfortably in our 37 units. Spacious cabins are appointed with comfortable furnishings and sleeping arrangements for one to nine guests per unit. The Hitchin' Post Pool and Spa Lodge is conveniently located in the central portion of the ranch and overlooks a sparkling heated pool. This lovely setting nestled in a grove of trees also includes the spa with sauna, six-man hot tub, and a therapeutic massage room. Plenty of open blue sky and ample decking with lots of chairs and loungers for sunning by the water. Of all we have to offer our guests, the great outdoors is our most precious. There are many spots throughout the ranch that allow you to enjoy the scenery. Harmels' stretch of the Taylor River is a sight to see. We have been steadily improving on the fishing habitat and our riverwalk. So sit back and relax by the river, but don't be surprised if an American Bald Eagle or some Merganser Ducks come into view; keep your camera handy. Activities: One of the main reasons to visit a Dude Ranch is for the fun activities that a western vacation provides. Harmel's Ranch Resort abounds in plentiful and exciting things to do from check-in time to check-out time. All of the activities we advertise are located right here on the ranch, not a motor trip away.
Horseback Riding
After a restful night in the quiet of your cabin you are ready for a horseback ride into the high country. We have beginner, intermediate, and advanced trips leaving the stables three times per day. Overnight and All-Day Wilderness trips are always a big hit and our Junior Wrangler program is very popular with the kids (and adults) looking to learn more about the care of horses. We require riders be at least seven years of age for trail rides.
Fly-Fishing
Harmel's has outstanding fishing! Estimated at 15 times Gold Medal standards, the Taylor River runs right through our camp and it's loaded with rainbows, cutthroat, browns, and brookies. In late May or early June of 2004 we will be adding 200 three pounders to our stretch of the Taylor. We also offer lessons and guided trips. Our fly and tackle shop is located in our gift store. Rental equipment available. For the kids and beginners we have stocked the "kids pond". The river is catch and release only but, at the pond you may keep your catch.
Whitewater Rafting
Whitewater rafting is a very popular adventure in Colorado. Let our cool Rocky Mountain waters cascade you down one of the prettiest river canyons anywhere. We offer level II that is perfect for most ages, and level III for the more adventurous folks. All trips begin at Harmel's and all of your gear is furnished. Professional guides assure you of having the time of your life!
Children's Program
For the young buckaroos, ages four through seven, we offer the Children's Program. The kids go hiking, do arts and crafts, swimming, board and card games, videos on our big screen TV, and more. Our newly constructed "Fort Harmel" (pictured right) has gone over great with the youngsters. For children younger than four years, babysitting is available through the front desk.
Western Gourmet Dining
Food, to many, is a big deal. Scott Brown, our head chef for seven years, knows how to please a hungry family. Mondays and Thursdays are chuckwagon nights, Tuesdays and Saturdays are buffet nights, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays are menu nights. For those of our guests that would like a toddy before or after their meal, our bar is located in the restaurant. Check out our menu on the Dining page.
Pool, Hot tub, & Sauna
The outdoor heated swimming pool, six-man hot tub and sauna are just what the doctor ordered after a fun day of activities. We also offer therapuetic massage by appointment, including facials, manicures, and pedicures. See our Massage Therapy page. Take advantage of all that Harmel's has to offer.
And More...
There are so many more activities to keep you and yours happily occupied. Some of these include: Stagecoach rides, hay rides, horseshoes, movie nights, bingo, card games, billiards, and hiking. See our Activity Schedule. |
