Lane Guest Ranch Description: Lane Guest Ranch is located high in the mountains just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park with spectacular mountains, streams, and lakes, where you can ride horseback or hike for miles. Our small resort accommodates about 80 guests with a staff of 55 to serve you over 16 hours each day. Additional Information: You will enjoy beautiful sunny days and cool evenings with just enough rain to keep the flowers blooming and the landscape green. Our weekly activities include exciting whitewater rafting, overnight pack trips, trout fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing trips, telescopic star gazing with professional instruction, and horseback riding with instruction. You can snooze in a chaise lounge in the sunshine by our pool, go horseback riding, browse in our library, have good conversations over drinks on our patio or at our bar, view videos in your room or enjoy four nights of live entertainment in our lodge, or enjoy singing around our campfire. Golf and tennis are available in nearby Estes Park. Our guided hikes range from an easy stroll to a challenging adventure, or you can choose to just relax in a hot tub, or really relax with a massage from our masseuse (extra, but well worth it). You can relax or be as active as you wish. Our Package Plan includes accommodations, all meals, childcare for infants and up, and all planned activities. We have 25 units to accommodate couples and families up to six. All units are carpeted, comfortably furnished with queen beds, baths and tub-showers, TVs & VCRs, minibars, radios, lighted makeup mirrors and hairdryers. Most units have private patios or hammocks and are located in areas of natural landscaping of pine and aspen, moss rock, and wildflowers. Over half of our units have their own private hot tubs. These are always popular and reserved early. "THE DOCTOR'S HOUSE" A doctor built this house to his exacting specifications, and we purchased it in 1994. This is our newest, finest, and largest unit. It has all new furniture including 4 TVs with VCRs, a huge moss rock fireplace in the living room, five bedrooms, and we built a large deck with a private hot tub. Just below the house is a new gazebo beside a mountain stream among pine and aspen trees. The "Doctor's House" sleeps up to 14 people, and is perfect for family reunions. Additional accommodations are available for larger family groups. It is less than a three-minute drive from our lodge and comes with a complimentary van for your exclusive use. It is already reserved for some weeks this coming summer. Please contact us for additional information and available weeks! Activities: Horseback riding is a popular activity at our ranch, and we have an excellent string of horses. We have gentle horses, for beginners and young children that are dependable and patient, and we also have horses that experienced riders will appreciate. We ride in Rocky Mountain National Park and Roosevelt National Forest and take one- and two-hour rides, half-day rides (packing our lunch) and overnight packtrips. Our wine and cheese rides for adults are always popular, and we have rides for kids only.
Our rides are over trails high in the mountains through some of the most spectacular scenery on this continent. You can sign up for the rides you wish to take each day except Sunday. Overnight packtrips are very popular with guests. As with all of our horseback riding, there is no extra charge for these trips, and we furnish everything including sleeping bags.
Guests enjoy the riding, scenery, and comradeship around the evening campfires on these trips. Most of our guests are from large metropolitan areas, and though most have done little or no riding, have enjoyed riding at our ranch. Age need not be a handicap either because we have had guests in their 70's, as well as very small youngsters enjoy our rides. Our wranglers who are guides on our rides are well experienced young men and women who are happy to teach guests how to ride and handle their horses comfortably.
Please see our head wrangler on your arrival to arrange any special rides. They will make every effort to help you enjoy your riding and overnight packtrips so that these rides will be an experience you will always remember. We are an equal opportunity employer and provider, authorized by special use permit to operate on the Roosevelt National Forest and Rocky Mountain National Park.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK
Rocky Mountain National Park straddles the Continental Divide and has 412 square miles of some of the most beautiful scenery in the U.S. You will marvel at its beauty! It has 68 peaks above 12,000 feet, with some of its highest peaks over 14,000 feet high. They rise up just west of us that you can see from your dining room. Dominating the part is Longs Peak, 14,256 feet high just west of our ranch which can easily be seen from Denver 67 miles away. You will see forests of pine, aspen, blue spruce and fir, over 750 varieties of dazzling wildflowers, plunging streams, waterfalls, small natural mountain lakes, and even some glaciers. The wildlife, which is protected, includes elk, deer, bighorn sheep, coyote, beaver, black bear, and over 250 varieties of birds.
Despite the rugged terrain, the park is easily accessible with over 300 miles of trails. Some of its splendor you will see from Trail Ridge Road which crosses the Continental Divide and is the highest continuous highway in the U.S. But to experience the scenic wonderland to the fullest, join our guests in riding horseback, hiking, and fishing while at our ranch.
WHITEWATER RAFTING
The rafting picture to the right was taken on the Poudre River where we take our rafting trips. These trips are one of our most popular activities for guests age eight and above. This summer you can experience whitewater rafting on the Poudre River. Each run has a guide, and every guest has a paddle. Often everyone is paddling furiously and at other times just drifting with the current with time to enjoy the view. You will enjoy the thrill of fast rapids, the views of steep canyon walls, and the excitement of seeing wildlife such as deer, elk, beaver, hawks, eagles and water fowl.
HIKING
Our scenic and diverse hiking program becomes more popular each year. Our three guides with over fifty years experience will lead you to some of the most spectacular areas in Rocky Mountain National Park. Our guides are well versed in flora and fauna, history, and local lore of the region. Hikes range from easy, moderate, and even a challenging one towards the end of the week. We also offer an informative and fun photography hike each week. Join us for fun and fitness on our breathtaking hikes!
FISHING
Our fishing guides can take you to the many snow fed streams to angle for brook trout, or fish for rainbows at a quiet mountain lake. You can use their flies (developed over many years) and equipment to catch trout, and our chef will prepare them when you wish. Guests of all ages will enjoy these trips.
FITNESS CENTER
Cardio conditioning and weight training with treadmill, multi-function weight station, recumbent bike, Roman chair, and free weights. We also have mountain bikes you can ride in our beautiful mountain area.
RELAXING MASSAGES
A massage is one of life's nicest pleasures, and we have an excellent masseuse. See our concierge for a massage appointment during your stay.
ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS
We have an excellent children's program with well qualified children's counselors who can supervise your children all day. You just sign them up for the times you wish. Party-dinners are served to children each week with their own favorites on their menu, allowing parents the leisure of a quiet dinner in our lodge. We offer children special horseback riding instruction, kids only rides (parents can go if they wish), and an extensive program of hikes, swims, fishing, crafts, and trips to Estes. Children ages 8 and older can go whitewater rafting and trail riding.
Children too young to ride with adults on our overnight packtrip can ride in our jeep. We are happy to care for infants on up so that their Moms can enjoy their vacations at our ranch. We especially recommend parents of young children to vacation here the first or last weeks of our season, since their children can receive more individual attention. A large variety of current video games can be played on our new Microsoft Xbox, and our Sony PlayStation.
