Additional Information: Surrounded by 22 pine forested acres with a river running through it, Western Skies offers a peaceful alpine setting with picturesque river and mountain views. At an elevation of 10,050 feet near the Continental Divide, the skies are seemingly bluer, the stars brighter and the air fresher at Western Skies.Here guests will find a perfect setting for an outdoor adventure, a quiet respite or a romantic hideaway. Whichever fits your notion of a ideal getaway, Western Skies offers a unique and picturesque mountain backdrop for your Colorado memories. The cabins and bed and breakfast lodge are adjacent to White River National Forest for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and other outdoor activities. Keystone Resort is 4.3 miles away for downhill skiing, ice skating, tubing, horseback riding, golfing, shopping, dining and other resort activities and amenities. The majority of the land between Western Skies and Keystone is dedicated to national forest. Couple this with the fact that the 22 acre property is remotely situated off of Montezuma Road, a sparsely traveled paved county road, so that cars pass by unnoticed. You feel alone in the woods. This quiet atmosphere in a beautiful setting lends itself to relaxation and romance. The cedar log cabins and bed and breakfast lodge are a perfect fit to the Colorado mountain setting. Constructed in 1986 of a solid flat cedar log, the cabins and bed and breakfast lodge offer a warm, knotty pine look and true rustic mountain character. But guests enjoy the conveniences and comforts of home too. Remodeled extensively in 1998, each cabin and guestroom offers a private en-suite bath, telephone with voice mail, CD player, and television. From a private cabin perfect for a special getaway to an economical guestroom for a budget minded traveler, Western Skies offers a wide range of pricing aimed to suit your needs. Whichever lodging you desire, the innkeepers strive to provide a quiet retreat for couples. The bed and breakfast lodge is situated along the banks of the Snake River. The breakfast window seat, living room, as well as three of the four guestrooms, offer river views. The spacious living room has two comfortable sofas in front of a pellet stove for relaxing with ample reading materials and board games. During the summer months, the large back deck of the bed and breakfast lodge is a perfect spot for sitting and relaxing and watching the river rush by. The bed and breakfast lodge has four individually decorated guestrooms, each of which is named after an area mountain peak. The two spacious upstairs guestrooms have king sized beds, sitting areas in front of a gas log fireplace and river and mountain views. The two downstairs guestrooms offer an economical lodging alternative; they are smaller in size and each has a queen sized bed (these two adjacent rooms work well for couples traveling together). Awake to breakfast at the window seat overlooking the Snake River Wake up to breakfast served at the sunny window seat designed specifically to capture the river and mountain views. Here guests will find individual tables for two topped with fresh flowers. The innkeepers take pride in serving delicious hot breakfasts as well as delectable evening desserts. Some of their most popular breakfast entrees include skier's savory sausage and egg bake, green chile cheese puff, pumpkin waffles and two mile high blueberry pancakes. Carmel cheesecake, midnight chocolate cake and white chocolate mousse are desserts which win rave reviews from guests. Complimentary hot beverages are available throughout the day at the coffee/tea buffet in the bed and breakfast lodge. Guests may sit down to breakfast each morning anytime between 8:00 and 9:00 am. Cabin guests may take the short stroll to the bed and breakfast lodge for breakfast or for the ultimate in privacy, a breakfast tray may be delivered to the cabin door between 9:00 and 9:30 am for a nominal charge. Lenawee Cozy, economical room on the main level with private full bath. Decorated in a cabin style with red plaid comforter and matching curtains, queen iron bed. Santa Fe Decorated in a Southwestern décor with queen log bed and leather equipales chairs, this main level room also features a 3/4 bath with tiled shower, a separate entrance off of the B&B's front deck and a river view. Argentine Spacious upstairs room features a king bed with hickory and tapestry headboard, rocking chairs and leather ottoman in front of a gas fireplace and river and mountain views. Tip Top Spacious upstairs room with king pine sleigh bed, wood-beamed cathedral ceiling, panoramic windows, loveseat and coffee table in front of a gas fireplace, river and mountain views. During the summer months, hiking and biking are popular area activities. Access to White River National Forest is within walking distance (1/4 mile) from our door. Trailheads in our immediate area include Chihuahua Lake, Argentine Pass and Lenawee Mountain. There are many other hiking and biking trails throughout the county, many of which are often uncrowded even during the peak summer months.

Winter
During the winter months, Summit County is known for it's great skiing. Keystone Resort, located 4.3 away, is the nearest resort to the cabins and bed and breakfast lodge at Western Skies. Keystone offers ice skating, tubing, groomed nordic trails and snowmobiling. Arapahoe Basin is a twenty minute drive from Western Skies and Breckenridge and Copper Mountain are approximately a thirty minute drive. Access to ungroomed trails for cross-country skiing and shoeshoeing in White River National Forest is 1/4 mile from our door.
