The Lodge at Carolina in the Pines Description: The Lodge at Carolina in the Pines is a luxury Bed and Breakfast retreat or a one-of-a-kind vacation rental home perched on a bluff near Lake Dillon, in the middle of everything, but secluded by pinetrees from the world below.Additional Information: The Lodge offers all of the comforts and conveniences of an upscale hotel with all of the charm and coziness of a mountain bed and breakfast. The Lodge is settled in the pines of Dillon at over 9000 feet elevation, only minutes from I-70, sailing, hiking, biking, shopping, and within 10 - 15 minutes of 5 major ski resorts and only 30 minutes from beautiful Vail.....yet the views from the main and guest rooms give our visitors reason to believe that we are nestled deep in the mountains with no one around for miles. For weddings, family reunions, corporate retreats and group vacations (or a simple romantic getaway) the Lodge is unparalleled. The Lodge was originally built as an upscale bed and breakfast in 1996. Since then, it has become the ultimate vacation rental for large groups. Its 10 bedrooms and 10 1/2 baths with oversized great rooms makes it a unique site for family functions, weddings, receptions or corporate meetings. The Lodge at Carolina in the Pines still operates as an upscale bed and breakfast a couple times each season. Call to find out when you can rent just a single room in this unique mountain home. Because The Lodge was built as a Bed and Breakfast, all of the bedrooms are self-contained, designed for our guests' ultimate comfort. Each room comfortably accommodates two adults ~ The Lodge offers Aerobeds for guests with young children. Carolina and Henry's Bedroom Carolina and Henry shared a love affair that spanned over 60 years --this room is dedicated to the owner's dearly loved grandparents and is filled with a romantic queen 4-poster bed, rich mahogany furniture, white cotton and lace, vaulted ceilings, TV, VCR, CD player, a private deck with mountain views, and a two person soaking tub -- with candles and bubble bath to create your own new love affair or celebrate an old one. Breckenridge Christmas Bedroom The holidays are a delightful time, especially in Summit County where twinkling lights and enchantment line it's streets. Celebrate that Christmas magic anytime of the year simply by spending the night in the dramatic mahogany queen canopy bed draped in rich burgundy and green and surrounded by Christmas treasures. This room enjoys a private deck with mountain views, TV, VCR, CD player, and a two-person soaking tub to make your Christmas experience extra special. Symphony in the Rockies Bedroom It is often said that the mountains are a symphony unto themselves --this room celebrates those poets who have seen the music in these mountains. A perfect spot to visit during the local music festivals or just when you feel a song in your heart and a bounce in your step. This room features a queen Victorian mahogany bed, vaulted ceilings, TV, CD player, and a private deck with views of the mountains and pines. The Enchanted Woods Bedroom This room invites you to curl up with the forest critters for a night's sleep on soft leaves surrounded by the pale greens of the forest. The Enchanted Woods offers a four post queen oak bed, TV, CD player, and a private deck with views of the mountains and pines. Margaret's Attic Bedroom Carolina and Henry had one daughter (my wonderful mother) -- this room is dedicated to her. It features antiques and toys, vaulted ceilings, views of the mountains, TV, VCR, CD player, and a cozy white iron bed wrapped in soft pinks and blues. The Bear Pause Bedroom The friendly bears that inhabit The Lodge at Carolina in the Pines ofter snuggle into the rooms for a nap -- this one is their favorite. You'll find many of their friends enjoying the TV, VCR and CD player and ready to watch over you as you hibernate in the high queen antique oak bed or relax with views of the mountains in a pair of antique oak rockers. Henry's Winter Retreat Bedroom With views of the snowcapped peaks from its windows, this room allows our guests to experience a Rocky Mountain winter anytime of the year from a mahogany sleigh bed under layers of mountain green and surrounded by skis, sleds, and snowshoes. The Retreat offers a TV, VCR and CD player, and vaulted ceilings with snowflake covered walls. The Buffalo Roam Bedroom ....and the deer and the antelope play. This room is a beautiful and cozy western experience with heavy log furniture, TV, VCR, and CD player, and a queen bed wrapped in heavy plaid to keep you cozy as you spend your evenings at Home on the Range. The Happy Trails Bedroom If you have always dreamed of riding with Roy and Dale, this room offers the charm of a night around the campfires -- cozy log furniture with two twin beds or one king, vaulted ceilings, TV, VCR and CD player, and a charming western theme will give you memories that will last...."until we meet again". (This room is my fathers favorite, his boots are still sitting by the door.) Lake Dillon's Bedroom This room was not only named for the fabulous nearby Lake Dillon, but also for the owner's adored Labrador (who is a frequent visitor to the Lake). From a quick sail on the Lake to an ocean voyage -- this room has a surprising nautical theme featuring an antique queen brass bed, TV, VCR and CD player, views of the pines, and furniture that could have come from the old captain himself. Amenities: The Lodge is a 6500 square foot home with 10 bedrooms and 10 1/2 bathrooms. All of the bedrooms at The Lodge have beautiful mountain or pine views, wooden ceiling fans, private baths, analog phones, cable TV with remote control, VCR and CD players. All of the upstairs bedrooms have vaulted ceilings and large windows that bring the sunshine into your room. Some of the bedrooms have private decks with glorious mountain views and a couple have two-person soaking tubs. The Lodge has two great rooms which have reading areas, a fireplace, a home theatre with surround sound, a collection of over 450 movies, a play station with a collection of favorite games, a large outdoor hot tub, a workout room, and sauna. For guests renting the entire lodge, there is a large gourmet commercial kitchen. With advance notice, we will happily stock the refrigerator and cupboards with any groceries and beverages you will need so that you can begin enjoying your vacation the minute you arrive. If you are planning an event - a wedding, reunion or a group business retreat or social getaway - please ask what the Lodge can do for you. On bed and breakfast weekends, breakfast is served every morning between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. in the main lodge. The menu may include Belgian waffles, crepes, omelets or a variety of warm entrees. But, if you think that there is something special you would like during your stay, please be sure to mention it when making your reservation. The Lodge is also wheelchair accessible. Activities: In theWinter and Spring, Dillon is in the middle of ski country! Summit County, and the nearby area, offers 5 world class downhill ski resorts (Keystone, Arapahoe Basin,Loveland, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain) all of which are within 10 to 15 minutes from the door of The Lodge. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails are everywhere and nearby Frisco (only 5 minutes away) offers a wonderful Nordic facility. Snowmobiling, ice-fishing, sleighrides, and ice-skating are available within minutes of the Lodge -- and the snowcapped peaks surrounding the town of Dillon make it all magical!
Later in the Spring, the wildflowers bloom in the high country. Trails for beginners or for the experienced are everywhere taking the hiker over 10,000 feet and higher (a true Rocky Mountain high). Local ski resorts offer gondola rides to the top of still snowcapped peaks and mountain bike enthusiasts can find rugged trails throughout Summit County.
The Summer brings hikers, fisherman, golfers, mountainbikers, and boaters. Icy clear Lake Dillon (home of the highest marina in the world), surrounded by the gorgeous Ten Mile and Gore mountain ranges is the star attraction.
Fall is a wonderful time in the mountains of Colorado. The aspens turn color and light up the mountains in shades of yellow and orange -- a perfect time for hiking, mountainbiking, and photography!
All yearround, the indoor sports of shopping, gambling, and dining are very nearby. Dillon/Silverthorne is the home of over 40 factory outlets (and some of them are within walking distance of the Lodge!) and the nearby towns of Frisco and Breckenridge offer specialty shops with all sorts of mountain treasures. The historic gambling town of Central City nestles in a canyon a little over 30 minutes away and is packed with casinos, shops, and restaurants (as well as the famous Central City opera!) And dining is a real treat in Summit County. Small microbreweries dot the towns and cuisine of every kind can be found within 10 minutes of the Lodge. But be careful, a glass of beer or wine goes alot further at this altitude. |
