Thunder River Lodge Description: Thunder River Lodge is located in Carbondale, Colorado, at the confluence of the Roaring Fork and Crystal Rivers, a short distance downstream from the point at which the Frying Pan River joins the Roaring Fork. The fishing is superb at any time of the year on these Gold Medal trout waters.Additional Information: Thunder River is the the more literal translation of the Ute Indian name of the river now known as the Roaring Fork, which drops down from the Continental Divide, through Aspen, to Glenwood Springs, where it joins the Colorado. Mt. Sopris dominates the immediate skyline, but is only one of many major mountains nearby, some of which are over 14,000' high, including Colorado's most visited scenic wonder, the Maroon Bells. Experience this unique paradise and stay with your hosts, Arthur and Maureen Rothman. We'll make your visit comfortable and memorable. Our 21 rooms are very comfortable and a great value. They're well appointed, all with either King or Queen bed, and are bright and sunny, as you can see in the photographs. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. every room has a desk and chair. Local phone calls are free and there's cable TV, too. There are on-premises ice and soft drink machines, microwave available, guest laundry, picnic tables, and a barbecue grill for guests. We're pet friendly, too. There's a small fee. For those of you who are not pet fanciers, we have "No Pets" rooms. The Red Rock Diner next door is a favorite with the locals and the Thunder River Lodge is minutes away from shopping in downtown Carbondale. Activities: Local amenities include:
