English Bay Executive Accommodations is your home away from home in Vancouver. Located in the cosmopolitan West End of Vancouver's downtown peninsula. We are just one block from the tranquil beaches of English Bay, world famous Stanley Park and a short stroll away from tennis courts and the shops of Denman and Robson Streets.

Additional Information:

English Bay Weddings is situated in a Tudor style house which faces on to a beautifully landscaped and treed urban plaza. It is one block from the sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean’s English Bay, and one block from the world famous Stanley Park. The house is exquisitely furnished with antiques, particularly French style. It has three fireplaces and glistening hardwood floors handsomely adorned with Persian carpets.

There is a small library upstairs where the wedding ceremony takes place. Adjoining is a beautiful “gentlemanly” area for the formal signing of the wedding registry. Remember, marriage between same sex people is permitted under the law in British Columbia. Such unions are legal and binding.

As well, there are two bedrooms on the upper floor, each with its own bathroom. That enables the wedding couple to bring along the witnesses to their union, plus another couple to celebrate their exciting event.

The main floor comprises a magnificent parlour and dining room where small receptions are held. On that floor, also, is the wedding suite consisting of a large bedroom and an adjoining sitting room. Those rooms are furnished and paneled in dark oak. The bed and windows are curtained with rich, luxurious tapestry and silk fabrics, all of which are romantically lighted and warmed by a glowing fireplace.

The en-suite granite bathroom has a large whirlpool bathtub accompanied by two shower heads – one each.The wedding suite is intimate, exquisite, and masculine.

Your host, Bob Chapin, resides in the building, but is in a separate suite with no direct access to the main part of the house. The entire house, therefore, is for the use of the wedding party.
Bob has had many successful years in the service industry, so you will be well taken care of during your exciting stay in Vancouver.

Activities:

Vancouver’s cosmopolitan downtown centre, the residential West End area, and Stanley Park are situated on a peninsula surrounded by the glistening Pacific Ocean, and backdropped by the magnificent Rocky Mountains. English Bay Weddings sits on the western edge of the West End in an extremely quiet, safe neighbourhood. It is one block from the sparkling waters of English Bay and one block from Stanley Park, an old growth, thousand acre forest. The forest is laced with incredibly beautiful wide, serene, secluded and carefully groomed trails. As Stanley park is the tip of the penninsula, there is a six mile promade sea-wall (which also has separate lanes for cycling and rollerblading) around it. There is a beautiful roadway as well around the Park through the forest. The forest is studded with gems such as well maintained beaches, fine restaurants, an aquarium, an 18-hole pitch and putt golf course, several tennis courts, as well as many beautiful gardens which are professionally tended by the park board’s “army” of gardeners. You may reach the downtown centre by walking through tree lined streets of a residential area, or along busy Robson Street. The walk is only about twenty minutes, but there is also very reliable, comfortable public transit. On Robson Street, you may enjoy “people watching” from one of the many coffee bars or trendy restaurants, or you may enjoy shopping in the plethora of boutiques. English Bay Weddings is two blocks west of Denman Street, another West End favorite. Denman Street is more neighbourhood oriented, but with many, many coffee bars and specialty shops as well as fast food outlets and restaurants. There is a small shopping mall with a theatre. There are several major grocery stores, a community centre and three gyms. On Denman Street there are many places to rent bikes and roller blades so that you may enjoy Vancouver’s “great outdoors”. Although the West End is more subdued than San Francisco’s Castro area, it is nevertheless internationally known as Vancouver’s (indeed, Canada’s) gay area. Almost all the businesses display the gay friendly rainbow symbol. All the gay establishments of Vancouver are located here: lounges, clubs, baths, bars, clothing stores, etc.
