Willow Point Lodge Bed and Breakfast Resort - Koot Description:

Romantic Bed & Breakfast retreat lodge built in 1920. A spectacular mountainside acreage in a pristine corner of southeastern British Columbia.

Built in 1920, Willow Point Lodge offers a beautiful haven for the adventurous and romantic. You’ll find comfort in a peaceful and lush setting setting away from the ordinary and standardized world. Here a timelessness resides, encouraging us to recognize the gift of the ever-present moment. Nestled on a quiet acreage on the mountainside, the lodge overlooks the pristine Selkirk mountains, and is only a five minute walk down to 90 miles long glacier-fed Kootenay lake.

The lodge was acquired, restored and converted into a B & B in 1988 by the Dodsworth’s. Sue & Alan worked hard at setting up the backbone of the lodge. They moved from room to room with their two young sons as they were renovating & restoring the house. In 1996 it was sold to Anni Mühlegg from Montreal. Anni and her business partner Florent Barrillé took on the hard work of the B & B, continuing what had been started eight years before by the Dodsworth’s. Anni & Florent replaced the entire shingle roof with new cedar shakes and built a gorgeous gazebo. They further enhanced the house with renovations, restoring the original fir floors and redecorating the interior, and improved the garden with the planting of hundreds of perennial bulbs. A new deck to the verandah was created and new hiking trails out back lead to three sets of rejuvinating waterfalls.

Florent has since moved on to other ventures. Anni continues to enjoy working at the lodge and shares her dream with her beloved husband David and their companions Kali and Nelson.

Guests enjoy a stroll in the magnificent gardens contemplating nature’s wonders or a hike on the trails in the forest just above the lodge to the creek and waterfalls. Deep relaxation in the large outdoor hot tub is a must year-round, and, in the colder seasons, a crackling fire in the hearth adds to the relaxing ambience.

There is an abundance of wildlife in the forest surrounding Willow Point. Deer, elk, ospreys, black bears, coyotes are frequently seen or heard. Families of Robins, Swallows, Steller Jay’s and Chickadees also make Willow Point their seasonal home.

There are six individually decorated guests rooms and all have their private bathrooms. Rooms are airy and furnished with period pieces from the 1930’s and those collected during their travels by Anni and David, your hosts. Rooms are cosy with down comforters and fragrant with fresh flowers and locally-made candles. Egyptian cotton robes, locally-made all natural soaps, creams and shampoos are also provided in the bathrooms. Anni feels carefully the flow, energy and ambience of Willow Point and loves to Feng Shui.

A full delicious and wholesome breakfast is a treat served on the large covered verandah which opens to the garden or by a crackling fire in the hearth in the drawing room.

The Green Room

About 300 square feet, this bright room enjoys an exclusive private balcony with stunning garden and mountain views. (And views of the lake in the winter once the trees have shed their leaves).
A queen size brass bed, 1930’s furnishings and an ensuite bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower make this a very comfortable room. Ideal for honeymooners.

The Valhalla Room

An Antique Queen Size Brass bed and a 1930’s beveled mirror dresser, fantastic garden and mountains views compliment this airy bedroom. There is a lovely sitting corner which looks out onto the gardens. The sound of the ever flowing creek can be heard. The ensuite bathroom is fitted with a shower.

The Kokanee Room

A double Art Nouveau sleigh bed, a single and a beveled mirror dresser and the exposed beautiful granite from the downstairs fireplace compliment this cosy nook. The large exclusive bathroom is one floor below and is fitted with a large clawfoot tub. The view leads to the tall Furs, Cedars and Pines out back. This is a very quiet room.

The Monashee Room

This cosy room offers a picturesque window seat that provides a good place from which to contemplate one of our Japanese Maples. This smaller room has a lovely double brass bed, an antique dresser, and the ensuite bathroom has a shower. Very Cosy - definitely encourages cuddling. The sound of Shannon creek can be heard from this nook.

The Purcell Room

About 300 square feet this large and bright room is furnished with a Queen brass bed at one end of the room and a double bed in the other. A sitting area encourages sipping tea or studying. The views lead both to the east and south side of the garden. Perennials and trees abound with a view that extends far onto the Selkirks. The sound of the creek is an ethereal lullaby. This lovely room is quiet, spacious & secluded. The ensuite bathroom is fitted with a large shower.

The Oak Room

Jane Austen would have loved this room. Enchanting it is with a luxurious Queen-size canopy bed, a massive woodburning fireplace, a private porch leading to the gardens and an ensuite with a jacuzzi tub and shower and homemade rock sink. Surrounded by Edwardian English Cottage diamond-shaped windows, the view from this romantic room leads to the Selkirk mountains and the lovely gardens.
