SweetApple Bed & Breakfast Description: The Sweetapple Bed & Breakfast is a friendly, casual accommodation conveniently located just 5 minutes from Creston. The house is located on ten acres above the Goat River, where the views of the magnificent Skimmerhorn Mountains will take your breath away.
Additional Information: The Sweetapple Bed & Breakfast has two guest bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed, the other with a double and a twin. The bedrooms each have a two piece bath with a shared shower. The large bedrooms are comfortably furnished including down duvets and the line-dried linens are fresh every morning. There is a guest sitting-room with cable, VCR, movies, puzzles and self-serve area for coffee, tea and home-baked goodies. The wood stove keeps guests cozy during cool fall & winter evenings.
The guest rooms are located on one complete floor of the house, separate from the host's living space, and there is a 60’ long balcony, facing south with a panoramic view of the Selkirk mountains to the west and the Skimmerhorns to the east. In the valley below the house, you can hear the sound of the beautiful Goat River that runs through the property and offers guests prime fly fishing for trout and Kokanee salmon.
Your hosts, Ray & Merwa Howatt, enjoy serving their guests breakfast upstairs in their bright, cheerful dining room. Guests have a choice of a full-cooked country breakfast including juice, toast, muffins and home-made preserves. Or if something lighter is what you prefer, there is always an abundance of fruit and juice. Menus from local restaurants are available to help guests make a choice for dinner.
Activities: Tourists come from all over the world to enjoy the many natural splendors of the region. If you are planning a trip within B.C., the Kootenays provide an abundance of activities to make your holiday really successful.
Nestled between the Purcell and Selkirk Mountain ranges, Creston lies just south of Kootenay lake. Set in the wide Kootenay River valley it is a jewel among the apple and cherry orchards. If golfing is your passion you might enjoy a game at either the Creston golf course or Kokanee Springs course. There is world class bird watching at the creston wildlife preservation area. If skiing is what you are after then perhaps the slopes at Whitewater or Sweitzer might tempt you. The hiking trails are endless and the lake and river fishing is world renowned.
The weather is another reason people flock to the Creston Valley every summer. Long hot days and warm evenings make for a very comfortable climate. The area is famous for its fruit growing, and a stop at one of the road-side fruit stands for fresh fruit and produce is a favourite with the summer traveller.
