Mountain adventure from the Valhalla Lodge and the Mount Carlyle HutAdditional Information: In 1984 we had a vision....Our vision was to find the best backcountry skiing and hiking terrain available in the West Kootenays, British Columbia, Canada and offer you accommodation high up in the mountains. Since then, we have appreciated the support of over 2800 guests.What's unique about KMH? We were the first privately owned heli-accessed backcountry hut operation in the West Kootenays, which has now become a Mecca for deep powder snow and backcountry skiing. The Southern Selkirk and Purcell Mountain Ranges were virtually undeveloped and we had the opportunity and privilege to select the best ski terrain for you and our mountain adventures. We researched for over a period of 3 years, scanned all the topo maps, hiked and skied into the areas that looked promising... It was then, when we discovered these unique locations for the Valhalla Lodge and the Mount Carlyle Hut. These areas are unique because they comprise of an endless variety of accessible ski terrain offering the novice to expert backcountry skier an unlimited amount of ski descents and exploration. Our huts are situated high at an elevation of 7000 feet in sunny and spectacular locations. From there, we have access to exciting tree skiing and long open alpine descents on a great variety of aspects. Our guests have been returning to our huts year after year and are still skiing lines that they have never skied before! We also have designed our huts to offer you a relaxed, simple and comfortable mountain atmosphere where you will feel at home with us. We accommodate 8 - 10 people at each hut. Our groups are kept small to provide you with an exclusive and personal mountain experience. The Valhalla Lodge The Valhalla Lodge is situated high within the Valhalla Mountains of British Columbia, Canada. The Valhalla Mountains are renown for their destinctive steep granite rock formations. The lodge sits on a large granite slab at an elevation of 7000 feet in a sunny and open alpine basin and is dwarfed by the spectacular pyramid of Mount Woden and cradled by numerous alpine basins, and mountain lakes. The ski terrain is impressive and the trademark of the Valhalla Lodge is the choice of the endless wide-open alpine, offering you long ski descents right from the front door. Mount Carlyle Hut The Mount Carlyle Hut is perched on a small sunny treeline plateau high at an elevation of 7200 feet amidst the spectacular massive of Mount Carlyle. Here you will find yourself surrounded by a kaleidoscope of summits and distant glaciers. From the Mount Carlyle Hut we have access to over 15 different ski zones including numerous north-facing basins just a short ski from the hut. The combination of endless steep treeskiing in a variety of basins and open alpine descents will keep you skiing hard all week under any weather conditions. Rugged mountain peaks and unlimited backcountry ski terrain are the trademarks of the Mount Carlyle Hut. Amenities: The Valhalla LodgeAmenities include: 2-story rustic, post & beam mountain hut. Accommodates 8 - 10 people in four separate bedrooms. Fully equipped kitchen with propane stove & oven. Wood heat. Propane lights. Relaxation area. Bedding provided. Cedar log sauna. Outhouse. Flights in/out: Saturday to Saturday. Mount Carlyle Hut Amenities include: 1100 square foot, one-story mountain hut. Accommodates 8 - 10 people in four separate bedrooms. Fully equipped kitchen with propane stove & oven. Propane heat - 2 stoves with lots of drying space. Solar lights. Relaxation room. Post & Beam Sauna. Outhouse. Flights in/out: Sunday to Sunday |
