Cathedral Mountain Lodge & Cabins - Lake Louise, A Description: Enjoy luxury Rocky Mountain accommodation in Yoho National Park. Featuring log cabins, fireplaces and a mountain-fed river, Cathedral Mountain lodge is the perfect summer getaway. Cathedral Mountain Lodge is the ideal Rocky Mountain retreat, featuring the quiet calm of the mountains combined with the luxury of authentic log cabins, outstanding dining, and world class service. Located just 15 minutes from Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada.Additional Information: Our Log CabinsThe fifteen handcrafted log cabins feature wood burning stone fireplaces, stocked daily with birch or fir firewood and cedar kindling, comfortable private decks offer fabulous views. Cabins are furnished with pine log queen size beds topped with cozy down duvets and feather pillows. Large sitting areas are beautifully appointed with Canadiana antiques; tall sliding doors lead to spacious bathrooms with deep soaker bathtubs. Log cabins are ideal for couples. Log Cabins with Lofts Five of the log cabins feature lofts. In addition to the pine log queen size bed this cabin features a loft with two twin beds. For groups or up to four people or families this cabin is ideal. Cabins have ladder stairs to the loft, which may not be suitable for everyone. Wapta Cabins Built in 2004, our newest cabins offer a pine log queen bed and are the perfect mountain retreat for couples. Cabin is equipped with a gas fireplace. Our cabins offer a break from the routine hustle and bustle of urban life and in keeping with this concept do not have televisions or telephones. The main lodge at Cathedral Mountain was built in 1930 when mining was a primary activity in the area. It is now our guest registration, dining room, gift store as well as an area where you can read, play checkers or simply sit and admire the views. The Restaurant was chosen as one of the best restaurants in the country for the past five consecutive years by the national restaurant guide, Where to Eat in Canada. Our meals are prepared with quality and health in mind. Our baked goods, desserts, soups and sauces are all home made on site using only the freshest ingredients. The Dining Room is open from 7:00am to 9:00 pm. A complimentary continental breakfast buffet featuring fresh baked goods, sliced and whole fruit, cereals, yogurt and hot and cold beverages is included in the cabin tarriff. Buffet is offered from 7am – 10am daily. At lunch guests can enjoy hearty sandwiches on fresh baked bread, home made soups and salads. Box lunches can also be prepared to enjoy out on the hiking trails. In the evening dine in our 22-seat Restaurant or in the comfort of your own cabin. Entrées include regional dishes of salmon or Alberta beef. Our chef’s also create a variety of vegetarian selections. The charm of the historic lodge and our selection of fine wines accentuate the dining experience. All meals may also be enjoyed on our outside deck where guests can watch mountain goats on nearby cliffs and listen to the sound of the powerful Kicking Horse River flowing just meters away. Evening Meal Reservations are strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. Cathedral Mountain Lodge is located beside the Kicking Horse River in Yoho National Park. Yoho, along with Banff, Jasper and Kootenay National Parks is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains World Heritage Site. This is one of the largest protected mountainous regions in the world. Yoho National Park was established in 1886. The word "Yoho" is a Cree Indian expression of astonishment or awe. Yoho National Park is well known for it's seemingly endless supply of hiking trails, spectacular waterfalls, and dramtic mountain peaks. Takakkaw Falls Cathedreal Mountain lodge is just minutes from Takakkaw Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in Canada, or experience the beauty and wonder of Lake O'Hara. Additionally, the area surrounding Cathedral Mountain Lodge features towering rock walls and mountain peaks. For those interested in natural history, the magnificently preserved fossils of the Burgess Shale provide the perfect opportunity to see and understand the evolution of life in the Canadian Rockies. Finally, the area boast the Spiral Tunnels, a dramatic engineering feat that points to the ingenuity of Canadians past and present. Weather Weather in the mountains is unpredictable and can change very quickly so be prepared for anything! Temperatures during the summer average from evening lows of 5C - 14C (50s F) to daytime highs of 20C - 25 C (mid to high 70s F). Winter season is from October to April with snow levels in the valleys averaging 31/2 metres. Spectacular hiking is available June to September. Activities: Sightseeing
Cathedral Mountain Lodge is only 5 minutes away from Takakkaw Falls, the second highest waterfall in Canada. Stunning glacial fed lakes like Emerald, Moraine and Lake Louise are all within a half-hour drive. The Icefield Parkway, known as the most scenic drive in North America, begins just 15 minutes east of the site. Other attractions, including the Natural Bridge, Spiral Tunnels Railway viewpoint and the Burgess Shale Fossil exhibits, are only minutes away.
Hiking & Climbing
There are over 500 km of hiking trails in the area. Many of these are the best to be found in the Rockies. Trails like the Iceline and Larch Valley offer everything from alpine meadows to close up views of imposing glaciers. Mountaineering guides can be hired in the area. Boating and Rafting
Canoeing, kayaking and whitewater rafting are permitted on designated sections of the Kicking Horse River. Canoe and boat rentals are available just minutes from Cathedral Mountain at Emerald Lake, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake; an excellent way to appreciate the beauty and tranquility of the mountain Lakes. Powerboats are not permitted on Park waters.
Fishing
Fly-fishing and plenty of lake and river fishing are found nearby. Guiding services and rentals are offered at Emerald Lake and Lake Louise. A National Park Fishing Permit is required. The cost is approximately $6.00 for one week.
Horseback Riding
One-hour trail rides or full-day excursions through some spectacular areas in the park are available at Emerald Stables or in Lake Louise only minutes away.
Golfing

In Yoho six former have been opened for mountain biking. For more extreme terrain Kicking Horse resort in Golden is recommended.
