Sundance Lodge: Warner Guiding and Outfitting Ltd. Description:
Sundance Lodge is a backcountry lodge that offers cross country skiing in Banff National Park. Cross Country Skis and a well sheltered trail make just the right mix for a quick escape. Winter at Banff Sundance lodge means a hot shower, an inviting atmosphere, and plenty of excellent home cooked meals prepared in the backcountry of Banff National Park.

Additional Information:
Sundance sits along a gentle curve on Brewster Creek and is 16 km from Banff, but only a 10 km ski from the Healy Creek trail head (at the base of the Sunshine turn off). Cross country skiers from novice to expert can enjoy the groomed and track set trail considered moderate to easy.

Completed in 1991, Sundance Lodge now sits on the original site of the horse corral for Ten Mile Cabin, built by Canadian Pacific Railway back in the 1920’s. The cabin itself remains standing and was declared a historical site in 1990. It was used as a refuge for mountain guides and packers travelling to Mount Assiniboine, many of whom left their names carved into it’s logs.

The lodge sits along a gentle curve on Brewster Creek with the Sundance mountain range as a backdrop. Built entirely of Fir logs the lodge has ten sleeping rooms, a large country kitchen, and a cozy living room area where you can curl up by the wood stove and lose yourself in a good book. After a day spent skiing in the fresh mountain air, you'll appreciate an added comfort from home - hot showers!!

Our rates include your overnight accommodation, as well as supper the night you arrive and three square meals for each full day of your stay, along with breakfast and lunch the day you depart. We require a deposit of $55.00/person/night to confirm your reservation. This deposit is non-refundable but can be transferred to another date in the 2003 or 2004 ski season with 7 days notice of cancellation.

Sundance Lodge is one of the newest backcountry facilities in Banff National Park, boasting 10 guest rooms, a rustic living room, homey kitchen, solar-powered lights, and hot running water.

There are a variety of day trips from the lodge. Two favorites are the Fatigue Creek trail and the trail toward Allenby Pass along Brewster Creek. In addition, there is the Bench Trail which takes you high up behind the lodge.

The trail to the lodge is packed and trackset regularly, while the trails beyond are considered touring, packed only by the skiers ahead of you.

When you are ready to make arrangements for your ski vacation to Banff Sundance Lodge, our office will be prepared to help you. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions concerning your reservation or travel arrangements.

If traveling west, take the "Sunshine" exit off the Trans Canada highway. After you cross over the Texas gate, there is a small parking lot located on the east side of the road. It is here that you can leave your car for the duration of your stay with us at the Lodge.

The ski trail that runs alongside Healy Creek is clearly marked #1 with yellow/green Parks Canada Trail markers. Stay on this trail until you come to the junction of the trail #1 and trail #8. It is important that you do not turn off trail #1 until you come to #8 or you're in for a tough ski.

If you are at all unclear about these directions, please give us a call. Happy skiing!

The trail to Sundance Lodge is 16k from Banff but, only 10k from the Healy Creek trailhead and is considered beginner to intermediate. The trail allows the average skier to get to the lodge in about 2.5 hours with energy left over to ski other trails or time to relax in our cozy living area. If a mid afternoon departure is appealing to you, your arrival at the lodge would be just in time for one of our home-cooked meals.
