Blue Mountain Lodge: Banff Bed and Breakfast Description: Blue Mountain Lodge is a Banff bed and breakfast located only two blocks from shopping, restaurants, and more. Banff ski packages are also available.Additional Information: Blue Mountain Lodge first appeared in Banff National Park tax rolls in 1908, according to records from the Whyte Museum. The Lodge was built by Sarah E. Taylor as a rooming house following the death of her husband at Bankhead mines.Over the ensuing years, the Lodge was owned by the Black family and then Mrs. Inez Miller, who started renting rooms to tourists. Hugh and Irene Simpson are the most recent owners. They had long admired the Lodge and could see its wonderful potential as a B & B Inn. Hugh is well-known for his ability to bring a feeling of comfort and charm back to older buildings., so in 1987 they bought the Lodge and with the help of their son Ryan began the renovations which have made the Lodge what it is today. Hugh and Irene have moved on to semi-retirement and operate a unique B & B guest house "Duck & Pug Marina Guest House" on the shore of Okanagan Lake, in Peachland, B.C. However, they still make regular treks to Banff and operate the Lodge for a week or two several times a year. Fall asleep under the shadow of North America's most photographed mountains, Mount Rundle, Cascade Mountain and Mount Norquay. As you drift off, the stars twinkle and on a very clear night you may see the Northern Lights fluttering in the distance. Guest Kitchen/Lounge Our fully equipped guest kitchen/lounge is available daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm for the preparation of light meals and snacks. The Lodge has 10 rooms which come off the main staircase much like a small hotel. All of our rooms are unique. On the top floor, the rooms have sloped ceilings that follow the roof line, creating interesting nooks and angles. Many rooms have spectacular views and each has cable TV. We can accommodate a total of 22 people in a variety of room sizes. Breakfast Our Buffet breakfast is available from 8:00 am until 11:00 am and includes: A good variety of hot and cold cereals, fruit juices, whole wheat bread, english muffins, freshly baked croissants, hard boiled eggs, baskets of fruit, yogurt, and various types of muffins. In addition, coffee, tea and hot chocolate are always out and available to guests in the lounge. Oops - almost forgot to mention the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon.
