Crested Butte: A Winter Wonderland

Activities for the Disabled:

The Adaptive Sports Center (ASC) of Crested Butte provides year-round outdoor recreation activities for people of all disabilities. Winter programs include adaptive instruction for alpine skiing, nordic skiing and snowboarding. Lessons include private instruction, a lesson-only lift ticket and equipment. Nordic Skiing:

The Crested Butte Nordic Center, located in historic Crested Butte, provides over 70 kilometers of groomed trails for traditional and skate skiing, an ice rink and sledding hill. The Nordic Center also provides rentals, lessons and interpretive backcountry tours. The Gunnison National Forest and Elk Mountains offer more than 100 miles of trails for backcountry touring. The historic town, the nightlife, fun & excitement, and the resort's "Extreme Limits" terrain offering some of the best extreme skiing in the world.

All Kinds of Fun!

Powder Skiing & Snowboarding
Snowcat to luxury powder skiing and snowboarding at Irwin Lodge. Located 12 miles from Crested Butte, skiers & boarders have more than 2,400 acres and 2,100 vertical feet of varied terrain for all abilities. There are runs for every level of powder skiing/boarding ability, from beginner (first time powder) through expert. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are also available with equipment, guides, and instruction.

Snowmobiling
We can help you plan exciting adventures into the backcountry of the Elk Mountains. No experience necessary. Lunch and dinner tours available.

Hot Air Balloon Rides
We can arrange for your vacation to have a real lift with a hot air balloon ride.

Guided Mountain Tours
Resort guides lead tours of Crested Butte’s breathtaking terrain. An introduction to the mountain by those who know it best. All levels welcome. Also, special tours of the steep and deep, double-black diamond runs available. Both services are complimentary. Daily at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Meet at Guest Services in the Gothic Building 15 minutes prior to tour.

Dog-Sled Tours
Tour the backcountry with a dozen Alaskan huskies. More fun than you thought possible.

NASTAR Races
Available seven days a week. NASTAR is for everyone. Two runs per person, plus a medal if you qualify. Races daily on the public challenge courses located under the Keystone and Paradise Lifts. NASTAR costs $5/two runs, $1 each additional run.

Athletic Club
Located in downtown Crested Butte, the health club offers a lap pool, weight room, hot tubs, full-service spa, and a non-smoking, English-style pub.

Nordic Center/Ice Rink
Enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and a sledding hill. A complete nordic rental shop, ski school, and extensive groomed track system, as well as guided backcountry tours and wilderness huts for skiers/snowshoers of every ability level.

Atlas Snowshoe Tours
If you can walk, you can snowshoe. Daily tours depart at 10 a.m. Ride the Keystone Chairlift and make an easy loop with spectacular views of the mountains.

Horse Drawn Sleigh-Rides
Tours of downtown Crested Butte, scenic backcountry rides, and dinner tours for couples, families, and groups.

Sleigh-Ride Dinner
Min. 15 people Max. 32 people (2 Seatings/Evening)
An open snowcat drawn sleigh takes you and your family or group up to Bubba’s Restaurant in the Paradise Warming House on the mountain. There you’ll enjoy a gourmet dinner in spectacular surroundings. Available Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays.
