Dinosaur National Monument Dinosaur Quarry - Famous as the largest quarry of Jurassic Period dinosaur bones.

Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum and Dinosaur Gardens  - Step back in time and walk through a dinosaur garden and experience many fascinating geological exhibits. 
Open daily 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area - Flaming Gorge Dam - Stretching for 90 miles, Flaming Gorge Lake is famous for its trout fishing. Below the 500 ft. high Flaming Gorge Dam, the Green River offers a variety of fishing, rafting, and camping activities.
Visitor Center open daily 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Summer guided dam tours 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
Winter hours: 10:00 a.m. to 4p.m.  Weekend tours during the winter.

Vernal Red Canyon Overlook - Flaming Gorge NRA

Red Canyon Overlook -
Steep cliffs 1,350 feet high offer spectacular views of the lake. Visitor Center is open daily during the summer 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Sheep Creek Geological Loop - Clearly visible in this area, immense geological forces have acted on the earth's crust. 
From Manila - 4.6 miles south on state Route 44. 
From Dutch John - 10 miles south on U.S. 191 then 15.6 miles north on state Route 44.  Road closed in the winter.

Dry Fork Petroglyphs - 10 miles northwest of Vernal in Dry Fork Canyon.
Open year-round.
Self-guided tours.

Steinaker and Red Fleet State Parks - Both are noted for great boating and water skiing. Steinaker is located 7 miles north of Vernal on U.S.191. 
Red Fleet is located 13 miles north of Vernal on U.S.191.

ROUTING TO ADJACENT DESTINATIONS
Drive times adjusted for local speed limits.

Destination - Price:  From Vernal, proceed east on U.S. 191/U.S. 40 to Duchesne, Utah.  Continue South on U.S. 191 to Price, Utah.  Distance: 113 miles - 2 hours drive time.

Destination - Logan: (Via Fort Bridger, Wyoming):  From Vernal, proceed north on U.S. 191 to Route 44 and continue north to Route 43.  Proceed on Route 43 to Fort Bridger Wyoming. (Utah Route 43 turns into Wyoming 414.) From Fort Bridger proceed east on I-80 to Wyoming 89. Continue north on Wyoming 89 to Utah Route 30. (Wyoming 89 turns into Utah Route 16)  Proceed north on Route 16 to Route 30 and west to Bear Lake, Utah.  Proceed south on US 89 to Logan, Utah. Distance: 303 miles - 6 hours 45 minute drive time.

Destination - Park City:  From Vernal, proceed west on U.S. 40 to Route 248 and west to Park City, Utah. Distance: 146 miles - 2 hours 15 minutes drive time.
