Telluride & Mountain Village: Just the Facts
Weather Daytime summer temperatures range from the low 70s to mid 80s (20s Celsius) while nighttime temperatures can dip as low as the mid 40s (single digits in Celsius). The mild temperatures combine with over 300 sunny days a year and very low humidity.
High Altitude Tips - Dressing in layers is recommended as weather can change dramatically throughout the day, depending on altitude and sunshine. - Apply and re-apply sunscreen and lip balm to exposed areas; you are much closer to the sun's rays at 10,000 feet than at sea level. - Drink plenty of water. Telluride's high alpine, semi-arid climate produces very low levels of humidity, which can drain your energy levels quickly.
Telluride & Mountain Village: Two towns combining rustic charm with mountain elegance. A 12-minute free gondola ride connects historic Telluride with the luxury and convenience of Mountain Village giving visitors the opportunity to experience the feel of two resorts in one. The two offer access to nearly 250 miles of hiking and biking trails, including five trailheads accessible via the gondola and nine others directly out of Telluride and Mountain Village. As well, a variety of dining and shopping can be enjoyed in both charming towns.
This past winter, Telluride Ski Resort celebrated its 30th birthday. In January of 2002, the Telluride Ski & Golf Company unveiled Prospect Bowl, almost doubling the size of the mountain to 1,700 acres of skiable terrain. In addition, three new high speed quads were added to service Prospect Bowl, bringing the resort's total to 16 lifts. The ski resort traditionally opens in late November and closes in early April.
