Welcome to Telluride, Colorado
A Tale of Two Towns
A glistening Telluride, a land to play
And a sparkling sister, a gondola ride away.
TELLURIDE
The celebrated soul of this historic setting remains enticing and uncompromised. Once bustling with miners in search of gold and silver, the town of Telluride is still astir over a century later with both locals and tourists enchanted by its history, beauty and charm. Majestic peaks cradle this tiny town, just eight blocks wide, 12 blocks long and peppered with colorful Victorian homes and clapboard storefronts.
Visitors are sure to catch a glimpse of Telluride's illustrious past while dining in a renovated ice house, shopping in a refurbished Victorian home or strolling by the site of Butch Cassidy's first bank heist. Telluride's culture is as rich and abundant as silver and gold once were, with theatrical venues at the historic Sheridan Opera House, art classes at the Ah Haa School and a plethora of bookstores and galleries to spark the intellect. Telluride effortlessly mingles urban sophistication, historic charm and mountain spirit.
MOUNTAIN VILLAGE
Founded in 1987, Mountain Village is an intimate alpine enclave with luxury hotels and condominiums, stylish boutiques and innovative dining. Home to the state-of-the-art Telluride Conference Center, the world renowned Wyndham Peaks Resort & Golden Door Spa, and the convenient Mountain Village Activity Center, this European-styled alpine village provides unsurpassable scenic ambiance with an emphasis on guest service. All elements combine to create a modern alpine elegance that complements the rustic charm of Telluride.
THE GONDOLA
The two towns are connected by a free gondola, the most innovative transportation system in North America. Providing environmentally friendly transportation in 13 minutes, the gondola eliminates the need to drive between Telluride and Mountain Village. Running daily from 7 a.m. to Midnight, the gondola is free to foot passengers. Skiers who use the gondola to access the mountain need a lift pass to exit at the top, Station St. Sophia.
