Breckenridge's Children Ski & Snowboard School

Knowing a child is going to end their day with a smile on their face and adventures to talk about makes it easy for parents to enjoy their own time on the mountain.  The Breckenridge Ski & Ride School is committed to providing this enjoyment for children ages 3-12 and relaxation for parents of all ages. As a result the program is consistently ranked as one of the top in the country. Additionally the resort offers a nursery program for visitors between the ages of 2-months and 3-years.

Children's Ski School Improvements
Last season Breckenridge spent more than two million dollars to upgrade the Peak 9 children's facilities and this season that trend is continued on Peak 8. Peak 8 children's facilities have seen  a remodel and expansion, a new surface lift and improvements to the outdoor facilities intended to enhance the overall learning environment.

Improvement's to the Peak 8 children's facilities include:

• An additional  2000sq. ft. to house the 6-12 year old programs while existing indoor facilities were given a facelift.
• Re-grading the on snow beginner area to provide more gradual terrain.
• A new surface lift to increase accessibility to the area.
• Riperoo, the new Children's Ski School Mascot will debut this December to meet, greet, and to ski and ride with Children's Ski School participants.  As a mascot Riper will encourage children to have a positive and safe day on the slopes at Breckenridge.

Lessons:
Breckenridge's children's lessons mix fun-filled adventure with on snow knowledge and learning. This combination is designed to raise a child's confidence level and improve their skiing or riding skills.

• Fun-filled adventure is enhanced by incorporating a different ski and snowboard related theme into each day of ski school. Themes rotate on a daily basis and include an environmental program called SKE-COLOGY, skier and boarder safety, race day and others.
• Lessons are available for children 3-12 years old in beginner/novice, intermediate and advanced classes.
• Ski lessons are offered to children 3-12 years old.
• Snowboard lessons are offered to children 7-12 years old

Both the Peak 8 and 9 facilities offer consolidated check-in, ticketing, rental and meeting places offering parents the ease of one stop ease for all of their children's ski school needs.

Full day lessons include lunch and a small memento for the child to take home.

Time table:

• Drop off is between 8:00-9:30 a.m. for full day lessons, 1:30 for half day lessons.
• Pick up is at 3:45 p.m.

Breckenridge's Adult Ski & Snowboard School

With more than 600 hundred professional instructors, gentle beginner slopes and high speed lifts Breckenridge has gained a reputation as being one of the best places in the country to learn to alpine ski, snowboard or telemark. For more advanced skiers and the riders, Breckenridge instructors utilize the resorts steep-and-deep slopes, mogul runs and award winning terrain parks to help guests obtain the skills needed to experience more of the mountain.

Ski Lessons:
Private and group ski lessons are offered from Peak 8, Peak 9 and Beaver Run. Peak 9 and Beaver Run offer beginners access to some of the most gentle and longest beginner runs in the country while the Peak 8 area offers guests the newly re-graded beginner area and surface lift.

• New to the Sport

Our snowboard school has been given a dedicated run (Eldorado) which includes a warming hut and a bathroom facility along with a mini terrain park, this terrain is serviced by two moving carpets and a surface lift  for your convenience.  Learning to snowboard has never been this easy. 

In addition, Peak 8's beginner experience just keeps getting better and better!  Last season we started transporting our new skiers and riders to our teaching terrain.  This season we have added a moving carpet and are re-grading our beginner teaching area.

Nordic Skiing and Snowshoeing

• The Breckenridge Nordic Center has 20-miles of trails groomed daily for classical track and skate skiing for all ability levels as well as 10 miles of snowshoeing on scenic nature trails.
  
• Located less than a mile from the Peak 8 base area and accessible via the free shuttle system.
  
• Offering Cross-country lessons, dinner sleigh rides and ski and snowshoe rentals
