The Most Progressive Ski & Ride School on the Planet

When most people hear the word "school," study hall, recess, and in some cases, detention, come to mind. Luckily, Copper's Ski and Ride School isn't any of those things. In fact, the only word that should come to mind is fun. Actually, progression, self-improvement, and confidence should surface too. Whether you're a never-ever who is seeing snow for the first time or a die-hard looking to refine your technique, Copper's crew of nationally recognized ski and snowboard instructors will make it an experience to remember.

Copper's Ski and Ride School offers a variety of progression sessions to meet the needs of skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers of all abilities. From "learn to turn" sessions for beginners, to specialty sessions for advanced snowsliders, Copper guarantees its Ski and Ride School will live up to its name as "The Most Progressive Ski and Ride School on the Planet."

For individuals and small groups, private instruction is available throughout the year. One-and-a-half hour, two hour, half-day and full-day options allow skiers and riders to customize their learning experience and maintain consistency as they stay with the same instructor in a one-on-one environment for the duration. Private sessions can be tailored to focus either on technique and general improvement or special skills such as bumps, terrain park or halfpipe, depending on the student's interest.

Furthering Copper's commitment to growing snowsports, new beginner and intermediate programs have been developed to not only help skiers and riders get to the next level quickly, but also so they may experience the camaraderie and celebratory environment that defines snowsports. Copper's Ski and Ride School offers three-day packages which include instruction, lift tickets, rental equipment and a guarantee that skiers and riders will progress to the next level. Copper's high-tech rental equipment helps provide beginners with the easiest, most advanced learning equipment available. Skis ranging in size from 130-150cm provide the perfect learning tool for skiers, and snowboarders have access to the latest equipment, allowing for a more rapid learning curve.

New sessions for the 2002/03 season include a teen session designed to allow skiers and snowboarders ages 13 - 17 to be in groups with their peers, enjoying special activities and challenges that appeal to that age group. For kids ages 3 - 13, Kids' Camp - Copper's version of an after school program - offers fun activities for kids after their regular lesson is finished. From 3:00 - 4:30pm kids can enjoy a fun, animated environment designed for them while their parents catch the last chair. Another new program - Family Time with a Pro - allows the whole family an opportunity to spend time one-on-one with the child's instructor on the hill to get specific feedback on their child's progress. This one-hour recap session is now available from 3:00 - 4:00pm.

A defining characteristic of Copper Ski and Ride School is the instructors themselves. Two of the resort's returning instructors were recognized as "Top 100 Ski Instructors" by Ski Magazine in its October 2002 issue. While training programs continue to emphasize the importance of professional certification through PSIA and AASI, the resort has expanded its training beyond the technical aspects of the sport to emphasize the importance of the learning relationship between instructor and student. The result is an experience oriented toward coaching and guiding students to meet their individual goals.
