Share a ride to the Colorado slopes
Got the I-70 Ski Blues? Well SkiCarpool.com is a new "meet and greet" service that allows skiers to connect and share a ride to the slopes.
For anyone heading into the Colorado ski country on weekends or holidays, heavy traffic has become as routine as filling the tank. So if you find yourself exhausted at the end of a ski day, SkiCarpool will let you get a nap on the way back home.
The free online service is designed to save time and money for skiers by helping them coordinate carpools to and from the slopes.
The site was started by Breckenridge web designer Glenn Lieberman, who hopes heavy traffic on his Web site will lead to less traffic on I-70.
SkiCarpool.com is a free site that lets users create and search for trips from any zip code in Colorado to any ski resort. You will:
-Save money by sharing the cost of gas
-Reduce wear on your vehicle
-Meet new people
-Reduce stress by sharing the driving
-Reduce traffic
-Reduce pollution
"You can create trips and then you can also search for trips others have posted so it's basically a bulletin board for trips," said Lieberman.
Using and setting up a profile on the Web site is free, plus you could win free lift tickets from several of the local resorts.
Users must have an e-mail address to use the service. Within minutes of submitting a registration form, SkiCarpool.com responds with a message and confirmation.
Once registered, carpoolers can search for drivers and passengers based on the date of travel, resorts preferred, home zip code and other factors.
