Copper's Music Scene...And More
Though Copper is teeming with enough high-energy options to keep visitors moving from dusk ‘til dawn, there are also plenty of activities that require nothing more than unfolding a blanket on the grass and applying sunscreen while sipping a latté. From the moonlit cinema on Friday nights to Sunday Morning Melodies by Ten Mile Creek, there are ample options for those wanting to simply soak it all in.
Back for a second season, the Burning Stones Outdoor Theater reclaims its place on everyone’s “must do” list this summer. Set in the center of Burning Stones Plaza under the night sky, movie-goers can sit back and relax on the grass while watching old favorites such as Sixteen Candles and soon-to-be classics like Chocolat and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Burning Stones Outdoor Theater is held every other Friday at dusk beginning June 20, 2003 and is free to the public.
Music of the Mountains takes place every Saturday throughout the summer from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Burning Stones Plaza. Guests can stroll through the village while listening to an array of musical genres including jazz, funk, rock-n-roll, bluegrass and more. Early risers will be rewarded with melodic sounds to accompany their morning coffee every Sunday during Morning Melodies. From 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., either a chamber trio or jazz trio will perform a free concert next to Bongo Billy’s Coffee Shop.
The beat goes on all summer at Copper as the resort’s free summer concert series returns for a third season. The Beat Goes On concert series takes place in Burning Stones Plaza on select Sunday afternoons. The four-part series features national acts and local up-and-comers, and promises to have visitors off their blankets and on their feet all afternoon. With the mountain acting as a natural amphitheater, these concerts are the perfect excuse to pack a picnic lunch and head to the mountains.
For those wanting to explore their creative side, Ready, Paint, Fire! is the place artists of all ages can create a masterpiece. Recently opened in West Lake Market, the paint-your-own-pottery studio features special project sessions from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. daily. Projects include clay painting, ceramic fusing, mosaic making, stamping and fabric painting, paper-maché, candle making, soap making and more. Kids can also get down and dirty with Sandy Candy – an arts and crafts session hosted by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory every Saturday afternoon. Sandy Candy makers can choose from a variety of colors and flavors and make edible sand art.
