Kane Creek Road Campground
4 campgrounds suitable for tent camping (3 to 10 miles west of Moab).
Camping Areas have open air vault toilets and metal fire rings. A dumpster is available at Moonflower Camping Area for campers' use.
 Kings Bottom Camping Area Photo Courtesy: Bureau of Land Management | King's Bottom Camping Area Located 3 miles from the junction of Highway 191, Kings Bottom is suitable for tent camping.

 Moonflower Camping Area Photo Courtesy: Bureau of Land Management | Moonflower Camping Area Located 3.5 miles from the junction of Highway 191, Moonflower features eight walk-in tent sites. The sites are well-shaded and offer privacy. The camping area is within the Behind the Rocks Wilderness Study Area (WSA).

 Hunter Canyon Spring Camping Area Photo Courtesy: Bureau of Land Management | Hunter Canyon/Spring Camping Area Located 7.5 miles from the junction of Highway 191, these two camping areas offer walk-in camping as well as sites accessible by vehicle. Hiking, biking, and motorized routes are nearby.

 Echo Camping Area Photo Courtesy: Bureau of Land Management | Echo Camping Area Located 8 miles from the junction of Highway 191, Echo Camping Area features nine large sites with vehicle access. The Ice Cream Parlor, a rock climbing area, is located across the road.

Canyon Rims Recreation Area
2 campgrounds (38 and 54 miles south of Moab). Campgrounds have picnic tables, metal fire rings, vault toilets, graveled roads, and trash receptacles. Camping at all sites is limited to 14 days within a 30-day period.
 Wind Whistle Campground Photo Courtesy: Bureau of Land Management | Wind Whistle Campground Located 38 miles southwest of Moab, Windwhistle Campground is nestled against Roan Bailey Mesa. Situated at approximately 6,000 feet, the campground is somewhat cooler than Moab during the summer. Drinking water is available mid-April through mid-October. An informative one-mile nature trail starts in the campground.

 Wind Whistle Group Campsite Photo Courtesy: Bureau of Land Management | Wind Whistle Group Campsites Windwhistle Campground serves as headquarters for the 100,000 acre Canyon Rims Recreation Area. It is also near the Needles Section of Canyonlands National Park. The group site at Windwhistle nestles against Rone Bailey Mesa, a large sandstone monolith. Views to the north are outstanding, and include Behind the Rocks and the LaSal Mountains. Nighttime brings the best stargazing opportunities in the state of Utah. Remote yet convenient, the Windwhistle Group Campsite offers a very private setting for your group.
How to Get There: From Moab, travel 32 miles south on U.S. Highway 191 to a sign that says “Needles Overlook” and “Canyon Rims Recreation Area”. (This turnoff is 20 miles north of Monticello on U.S. Highway 191). Turn west and proceed six miles on a paved road to the campground (tent) sign. Turn left into the campground.
 Scenic View Near Wind Whistle Campgroud Photo Courtesy: Bureau of Land Management | Facilities: The walk-in group campsite at Windwhistle is somewhat isolated from the rest of the campground by a large fin of rock. The site is sheltered by a grove of pinyon and juniper trees, and has stunning views of the surrounding sandstone cliffs. The group site has three picnic tables and two fire grills. The campground has trash service and vault toilets. There is drinking water available at the campground from approximately mid-April to mid-October. The closest services are in Monticello, 26 miles away. The Windwhistle Nature Trail, an informative and scenic one-half mile interpretive walk, begins at the group site.
Site Size: Windwhistle Group Site accommodates up to 15 people. The site is intended for walk-in tent camping only. Parking is limited to approximately five passenger cars (no RV parking exists).

The campground is situated on a mesa top which offers fine views of the surrounding area. The remote and quiet location guarantees excellent star-gazing opportunities. Water is available mid-April through mid-October.
