An Overview of Logan, Utah

Surrounded by pastoral Cache Valley, Logan is a university and agricultural center.  Western history is interpreted at The American West Center, and Logan Canyon is a favorite scenic drive.

Hardware Ranch Elk Refuge - See more than 600 Rocky Mountain elk in their winter range from a narrated sleigh ride and enjoy lunch or dinner at the ranch.  Located 18 miles east of Hyrum, UT on state Route 101. Open daily 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from December 15 - March 15.

Haviland's Old West Adventures - Enjoy a cowboy cookout and western entertainment. Located in Wellsville Canyon across the street from the Sherwood Hills resort.  Open Thursday - Saturday, from Memorial Day - Labor Day.

Logan Canyon Scenic Byway U.S.  89 - This popular route takes you 40 miles through spectacular Logan Canyon and on to turquoise-colored Bear Lake.

American West Heritage Center - Experience 100 years of American West history at this living historical site.  Open daily 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Memorial Day - Labor Day.  Welcome Center open daily 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Willow Park Zoo - Home to more than 600 animals, including elk, deer, black bear and wolves - in Logan.  Open daily: 9:00 a.m. to dusk.

ROUTING TO ADJACENT DESTINATIONS
Drive times adjusted for local speed limits.

Destination - Ogden:  From Logan, proceed south on U.S. 89/91 to I-15. Continue south on I-15 to Ogden, Utah.  Distance 43 miles - 1 hour drive time.

Destination - Vernal - Flaming Gorge area:  From Logan, proceed north on U.S. 89 to state Route 30. Continue south on state Route 30 to state route 16. Proceed south on state Route 16 to Wyoming 89 and continue to I-80. (Utah Route 16 becomes Wyoming 89.) Proceed east on I-80 to the Fort Bridger cutoff. Proceed on Wyoming 414 south to Utah state Route 43 and continue to Utah state Route 44. (Wyoming 414 turns into Utah 43.) Proceed south on state Route 44 to U.S. 191 then south on U.S. 191 to Vernal, Utah. Distance: 303 miles - 6 ? hours drive time.

Destination - Yellowstone National Park: From Logan, proceed north on U. S. 89 to Yellowstone Park. Distance:  245 miles - 5 hours drive time.
