Complimentary Tours & Services

Steamboat has designed the latest mountain services, tours and special programs all with one objective in mind, exceeding every guest's expectation. These programs are designed to improve the guests' awareness throughout the ski area while adding value, convenience and performance to the overall resort experience. In fact, guests consistently rank Steamboat against other resorts in the industry in the top tier for overall experience and employee service, 8.96 and 8.97 out of 10, respectively.

"Steamboat prides itself and is known throughout the industry for its guest service and the friendliness of our resort staff," said Andy Wirth, vice president of marketing for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. "Whether you are enjoying a free lesson with one of Steamboat's Olympic champions, experiencing the mountain on snowshoes or being reunited with that lost item, every employee is committed to providing each guest with the highest level of service."

Mountain Tours: Free mountain tours are offered daily at 10:30am, starting outside the upper gondola terminal at the top of Vagabond. Get a preview of the intermediate and advanced trails with information about the resort, surrounding area and altitude climate awareness. The resort’s Ambassadors conduct the tours, so look for the orange jackets.

Ski with Billy Kidd: Join Steamboat’s Director of Skiing, 1964 Olympic Silver Medalist and World Champion Billy Kidd, for some free pointers and a run down Heavenly Daze. Check the sign at the top of the gondola to see if Billy is skiing today, and join him in front of the BK sign at the top of Why Not at 1:00pm.

Nelson on Nelson’s: Nelson Carmichael, 1992 Olympic Bronze Medalist, 2-time World Cup Mogul Champion, 6-time US National Mogul Champion and Professional Mogul Tour Champion, hosts a free mogul clinic on Nelson’s Run at 1:00pm on select Sundays through the season. Check the grooming report to see if Nelson is skiing and meet at the Nelson's sign outside the Four Points Hut.

Ski with a Naturalist: Join one of the naturalists from Yampatika's Education Partnership for a free tour and receive interpretive information on the forest, mountain habitat and indigenous flora and fauna. Meet at the top of Why Not at 1:30pm on Tuesday & Thursday & 11:00am on Saturday. Tours run from mid-December through March.

Over-the-Hill Gang: A free program for skiers 50 and over that enjoy mellow cruising together. Led by local guides every Sunday through Friday during the season. The Over-the-Hill Gang meets at 9:00am in front of the Steamboat Ski & Snowboard School.

Interdenominational Services: These free services are held at the Overlook at the base of the Tower trail, near the top of the upper gondola terminal, every Sunday at 1:30pm beginning December 1st.

Complimentary Beverages: End your day at Steamboat with a free cup of hot chocolate or hot cider each afternoon in the base area! Steamboat’s Ambassadors serve these refreshing beverages out of a chuck wagon replica from the 1880s. When things heat up in the spring, complimentary lemonade and water are provided.

Free Parking & Shuttles: Steamboat offers free off-site parking at the Meadows parking lot. In addition, free shuttle buses run continuously from the Meadows lot from late November - Mid-April.
