Fortress Ski Area Facts
The base area complex at Fortress Mountain is situated at an altitude of 2040 m (6,692 ft), the highest in the Alberta Canadian Rockies. This lofty elevation ensures Fortress an annual snowfall 630 cm (21 ft) and a ski season that stretches from early November until late April. With such great snow conditions, Fortress Mountain is often the first Alberta mountain ski area to open for the winter and is the pre-season training site for the Canadian National Freestyle ski team.
The Fortress ski area climbs over two mountain sides, and then up another mountain on the backside. The mountain is serviced by six lifts (1 Triple Chair, two Double Chairs, and 3 T-bars) and has a terrain breakdown of 20% beginner, 55% Intermediate and 25% advanced.
