World Cup Freestyle Events
World Cup Freestyle action is in Fernie for three years and world-class athletes were welcomed to Fernie January 25 and 26, 2003 for the inaugural event. This is a worldwide series featuring the best freestyle skiers in the world competing in Dual Moguls and Aerial Events and includes other stops at Lake Placid, Mont Tremblant and Deer Valley. With a successful first event under the belt and athletes claiming Fernie to be the most welcoming stop on the circuit, this small B.C. town is looking forward to the 2004 event scheduled for January 24 and 25.

Legendary Powder
Fernie is about snow and terrain - what skiing is all about! With more than 29 feet of light, luxurious powder to cover 2,504 acres of skiable terrain in the Canadian Rockies, Fernie Alpine Resort is a skier and boarder's powder heaven. With five vast alpine bowls, innumerable glades and chutes and 107 defined trails, Fernie is uniquely suited to take full advantage of its abundance of snow. Located in the Lizard Range on the B.C. side of the Rockies, Fernie Alpine Resort's terrain and annual snowfall combine to make it not merely a scenic backdrop, but a haven for snowsport enthusiasts of all levels.

First Tracks
Experience the powder sensation with solitude and set first tracks of the day with an early start on the lifts. A certified Ski Professional will set the pace and provide a two-hour morning adventure on the slopes.

Corporate Meetings and Retreats
Imagine Canada's majestic Rocky Mountains bathed in sunshine and lush green forests accented with brilliant wildflowers or shades of autumn. This image is Fernie Alpine Resort in spring, summer and fall. In addition to the natural beauty of the resort, its quiet mountain setting provides a unique venue for seminars, meetings or team building activities. The resort operates year round with all the facilities and amenities needed for a successful meeting.

Endless Options
Need a day off the slopes? Fernie Alpine Resort and the Town of Fernie have endless options. This winter wonderland has something for kids of all ages – lead your own dogsled team through the snow-covered forest or relax in the Lizard Creek Lodge spa; enjoy the views on a snowshoe tour at the top of the Timber Chair or roam Fernie’s historic main street. For a western fix, try the Snowmobile Cowboy Dinner in a tipi or relax on a horse-drawn sleigh ride. If you haven’t had enough skiing, then a Torchlight BBQ & Ski is for you. Day or night, the options are endless when it comes to activities in Fernie.

Fernie’s Summer Mountains of Adventure
When the snow melts and the winter turns to summer, Fernie Alpine Resort and the Elk Valley become a summer activity haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Enjoy scenic chair lift rides to a variety of hiking and biking trails. Run the rapids of the Bull or Elk rivers. Experience world-class fly-fishing in the local rivers and lakes or enjoy breathtaking views from the championship golf course. There is Mountains of Adventure for all ages – year-round!

Fernie Experience
Everything about the Fernie Experience seems surreal – the entire area is steeped in lore and legend. From the history of a coal-mining town that has survived fire, flood and depression to the legend of the Ghostrider and Griz, this unique and friendly town in the Rockies has an interesting and colorful tale to tell.

Mountain Biking in Fernie
This summer Fernie Alpine Resort has been chosen as the site for the series final of Canada’s leading mountain bike event. After the successful races held last summer at Fernie Alpine Resort, the Kokanee Canada Cup Series Final will be held August 3rd & 4th, 2002. The event includes downhill, cross-country and dual slalom disciplines.
