What's New At Crested Butte Mountain Resort in 2003
Following an unprecedented three-way land exchange in November 1998 that preserved more than 7,000 acres of open space, Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) received 420 acres of national forest land adjacent to its current property boundaries. "Prospect at Mt. Crested Butte" with its breathtaking wilderness views and ski-in, ski-out access, have earned it the label of "hottest resort property in the country." The overwhelming interest in the single-family estate homesites is from people genuinely drawn to the area's open space, Crested Butte's nightlife, multitude of family activities and ultimately, the surrounding beauty that engulfs "Prospect at Mt. Crested Butte."
In June, John Norton was hired by Crested Butte Mountain Resort as President and CEO. John is back in our valley after ten years with the Aspen Skiing Co.--- most recently as chief operating officer, managing four mountains, three hotel properties, including the five-diamond/five star Little Nell. John and his wife Robin, are "psyched" to be back, and John looks forward to "reminding mountain lovers everywhere of the great towns and mountains on Colorado's Western Slope. It's worth the trouble to get here for that sense of getting away from it all." Edward Callaway says, "John has the brightest marketing mind in the business and he has been extensively involved in every aspect of running a ski resort, including operations, ski school, marketing, communications and sales. We are fortunate to have an individual as talented as John Norton join our company to help Crested Butte achieve its significant potential."
