TRANSPORTATION

Getting Here
Vacationers have three choices of airports within a two-hour radius of Breckenridge. Car rental companies and shuttle services are available. Vacation packages including air are available at
www.breckenridge.com

From Denver International Airport:

  • Breckenridge is 104 miles (166 km) west of Denver International Airport via I-70, Exit 203, Hwy. 9 to Breckenridge.
  • Ground transportation includes:
    • Regularly scheduled shuttles and limousines with Resort Express, 970/468.7600 or 800/334.7433. Reservations required.
    • Car rental service

From Colorado Springs Airport:

  • Breckenridge is 110 miles (178 km) west of Colorado Springs Airport through South Park and over Hoosier Pass or via I-25 to C-470 to I-70.
  • Ground transportation includes:
    • Regularly scheduled shuttles and limousines with Timberline Express, 800/288.1375. Reservations required. 
    • Car rental service

From Vail/Eagle County Regional Airport:

  • Breckenridge is approximately 63 miles (102 km) east of the Vail/Eagle County Airport, home of the most successful resort airline program in the country.
  • Ground transportation includes:
    • Car rental service

Getting Around Once You're Here
Free transportation provides travel ease for those wishing to access locations in and around Breckenridge. Simply look for signs marked "Free Ride" to get just what they're advertising.

  • Town Trolleys serve the Peak 9 base area, downtown and most in-town lodging. Approximately every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to midnight during ski season. Transit Hotline: 970/547.3140.
  • Breckenridge Free Shuttle provides access to all Breckenridge base areas and condo locations on Four O'Clock Road and French Street. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during ski season. 970/453.5000.
  • The Summit Stage, also free, connects Breckenridge with neighboring resorts of Keystone and Copper Mountain as well as the towns of Silverthorne, Frisco and Dillon and runs continually from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. all year.
  • Ski KAB Express provides free service between Breckenridge and Keystone at regular intervals throughout the ski season with hours varying according to demand.
  • Vail Resorts provides express morning and afternoon service to Vail and Beaver Creek during the winter months, for a nominal fee. Call 970/496.VAIL (8245).

High Altitude Health Tips
A few simple precautions can ensure the only effect that life at 10,000 feet has on a visitor to Breckenridge is extreme fun.

  • Reduce consumption of alcohol, caffeine and salty foods.
  • Drink three to four times more water than usual.
  • Get plenty of rest before and during your stay.
  • Take it easy! Your heart works harder at high altitudes so quit while you're ahead if you're tired.
  • Wear sunscreen.
  • Wear sunglasses with ultraviolet protection even on cloudy or snowy days.
  • Eat foods higher in carbohydrates.
  • Dress in layers - seek new outdoor fabrics that "wick" away moisture while retaining heat.

Free Guided Tours
Vacationers can make the most of their vacation time by learning their way around Breckenridge's four interconnected mountains with the help of resort staff.

  • Available for intermediate level skiers/boarders and above.
  • Tours depart at 9:30 a.m. daily from both Beaver Run Peak 9 and Peak 8 base areas. Look for signs. Reservations are not required for the free tour.

  • Additional lift ticket savings are offered to members of the Vail Resorts Peaks Program. Enrollment in Peaks is free and available online or at resort operated ticket windows.

Breckenridge.com also offers vacationers the opportunity to save up to 10 percent on rental equipment by pre-purchasing online.
