Mine Tours
Country Boy Mine
The Mine provides underground mine tours, illustrating what miners of the 19th and early 20th centuries faced as they toiled to make their fortunes in the Colorado Rockies. The Country Boy, located east of town on French Gulch Road, is a 1,000-foot shaft into the hillside, allowing visitors passage into a century-old mine for guided tours. Visitors can pan for gold outside in the creek or watch an indoor demonstration. There are also tours of the restored compressor house.

Phoenix Gold Mine
The Phoenix Gold Mine is an authentic and historical site, first opened in 1870. The mine is known the world over, with 1000's of visitors each year. The Phoenix has been featured in National Geographic magazine, filmed for PBS and featured on several TV shows in Colorado as well as the subject of many authors. The owner Al Mosch is a 3rd generation hard rock miner who has a hands on approach to his mining tours and gold panning instructions. So come back 100 years with us and spend the day learning about hard rock mining and try your hand at gold panning in our stream, which is included with your tour. (You get to keep anything you find in the creek, gold pans supplied.) Picnic grounds available for our guest use. (Fire Restrictions apply) Large groups may call for reservations. The Phoenix does tours all year round, weather permitting. School groups welcome - this is a wonderful way to teach Colorado History! Great Haunted House in October!

The Georgetown Loop
The history of the magnificent Georgetown Loop streches back more than a century. The story begins during a time when the mountains were appreciated not just for their appearance, but for what was hiding inside. And what was found inside the mountains between Georgetown and Silver Plume in the 1860's quickly established the area as one of the great silver-producing regions in the world.
